Chapter 5262: Annoying Karmic Gazes
Davis’s doppelganger returned to the obsidian flying palace eventually after a long journey.
Since this doppelganger was created through the insights he gained from Nadia’s species technique, it was a clone rather than an avatar.
It doesn’t have a mind of its own; should it be separated and would naturally expire once the time limit was up, which was extremely high. It was more probable that its energy would run out first and disperse.
The doppelganger traversed the spatial layers, going through multiple sublayers like shifting through a palace full of silk curtains and then choosing to stride between a row of stands that contained silk walls. After what seemed to be a long time, he eventually pierced through a fabric of silk- a spatial wall- and appeared out of a spatial crack, and what was standing before him was his avatar body and Fairy Qiyra Darkstar.
"Is anyone following you?" Fairy Qiyra Darkstar asked.
With her ability to move across astral stars, she was quickly able to close the distance and then used spatial tunnels to appear before them at the obsidian flying palace.
Davis’s doppelganger shook his head before presenting the loot to Davis and dispersing.
"Although no one is following on the surface, it is evident that we are karmically locked on."
Davis uttered with a faint frown.
He injected his soul sense into the spatial ring and saw the corpses of the Nether Devilarchs. Such precious treasures were easily taken away by him, but he still couldn’t forget the scene of the Celestial Transcendent slaughtering the Nether Devils with his mighty arrows like he was Hou Yi of the godly mortal legends.
The Celestial Transcendent’s ability to induce fear into his opponents just by using suppressive and oppressive energies catered to them was as marvelous as it was outrageous.
The Nether Devils all scattered like flies and wanted to run away upon seeing the reverent solar flames, flames harnessed from the Solar Reverence.
Even Lucian couldn’t handle that, even if his physique was the Solar Apocalypse Physique. After all, it was a Divergent Physique that used the Solar Reverence’s rays to power up, but only produced apocalyptic solar flames and not reverent solar flames.
The two were completely different.
It once again made him realize it was no wonder the Celestial Transcendent reigned as the Supreme Ruler for tens of billions of years. He was unmatched when it came to pure oppression through strength alone because of chaos, and made it worse using effective counter-suppression. This made him wonder if the Celestial Transcendent had some kind of counter for reincarnation energy, but he doubted that since the other party would’ve used it already.
He had already formed the insight that fate was beyond chaos. It was the structure that molded chaos and shaped it. Without a governing Will, how can anything transform? This went straight back into the observer theory, but it wasn’t as simple as a human observer gazing at the universe.
And karma were like the messengers of fate, with reincarnation being the wheel that ground it into motes of light that revolved in an unending spiral and kept the harmony of life and death, connecting destinies across eons.
It was hard to find counters for these three governing Laws that were beyond chaos, especially for reincarnation that was simultaneously the bane and boon of all souls.
Nonetheless, he thought about the annoying karmic gazes that were on them.
Ophirya Kaelis mentioned four gazes.
One was the Celestial Transcendent, one was the Hell Hydra Monarch, one was Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, so who was the final one?
He wondered if it was some Supreme who descended and was draped in some kind of disguise.
While he was contemplating, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar answered.
"That’s not a problem. These kinds of karmic gazes are not locked onto us but use a medium or the space to keep watch over the vicinity of the target. My astral escape art usually loses these karmic gazes with pure speed alone, but there are certain individuals who could keep up, namely, the Supreme One. It is better if we borrow the power of a Mystic Diviner to sever the lock."
Davis nodded lightly.
If these gazes were always on him or the others in his family, their sanctuary would already be exposed.
Since it wasn’t exposed, he preferred to think that they couldn’t locate him properly without him committing some level of action like leaving a mark in the world.
Perhaps the sanctuary was already exposed, and the Supremes merely chose to wait and not make a move, but he felt the other entities here restricted by the layer limit wouldn’t be able to find him in the first place from such a long distance.
Even if they could, just who was going to keep a watch on a whole array of Divergents? Their eyes would bleed to blindness, and their souls would be harmed to death unless they were the Celestial Transcendent or the Hell Hydra Monarch. Furthermore, their family’s Karmic Guardian Empress, Tia, had always erected karmic defenses over the sanctuary.
Davis guessed it was impossible to locate them through this indirect method of karmic gaze unless they revealed themselves to a vast number of people, which establishes the fact that they were there, or rampaged in the tribulation site and the Galaxy Wormhole Battlefield like they did yesterday.
The Celestial Transcendent had also collected his blood during the battle, but it had already turned useless. Hence, Davis could tell that the Celestial Transcendent resorted to spying from a vast distance above instead of directly observing him through his blood. Otherwise, he would’ve known.
Since this was the case, Davis felt that Fairy Qiyra Darkstar would be able to handle it since she already seemed to be aware of how to deal with it with her vast experience of escaping.
"We do have a Mystic Diviner on board, but I’m afraid she’s already injured. I hope Fairy Qiyra Darkstar can take care of this matter."
"..." Fairy Qiyra Darkstar stared at him silently for a brief moment before nodding lightly, "It is still within my means to shroud ourselves from pesky prying gazes that are difficult to shake free from."
She raised her hand and gazed at the broken ring; the replica of the Necklace of Light and Darkness.
Perhaps it was truly time to cause this treasure to go into slumber with the overuse. It was already broken, barely a few uses away from shattering, but each time, she made sure to nurture it, allowing it to somewhat survive. However, its passive ability also allowed her to remain in this layer. Otherwise, she would be forced to ascend. If she got the timing wrong, she would be kicked out to the void instead.
She put her hand down and said coldly.
"We only got one chance."
"Understood." Davis nodded, "I will find other ways in the meantime."
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar nodded, and the two of them returned to the flying palace.
On the way, Davis asked about the treasures she had collected.
"While I was unfortunate enough to miss the last treasure marked on the map, I was able to collect two mature treasures and four immature ones. The others were inaccessible to me since they require Empyreans to enter or are already occupied and nurtured by a variety of powers. If we don’t store them soon, they will be ruined."
"Understood."
Davis answered perfunctorily, inwardly praising her for her efficiency.
He didn’t use more words, afraid that she might say that their time was up and they quickly needed to leave. There was still Fairy Glacia Frigidveil to wait for, not to mention his true body, Illumina and Epsila, who were out on an adventure to the Southern Abyssal Tidal Sea.
They couldn’t leave now, or they would be stranded and unable to escape from the karmic gazes locking onto their vicinity.
He just informed her that they needed to wait for Fairy Glacia Frigidveil.
He couldn’t even ponder and be excited for the treasures since his mind was on Evelynn, who was evidently shaken from this experience. He wanted to go comfort her and get ready with better defenses in place. He felt the need to learn from Ophirya Kaelis on how to evade these karmic gazes from different dimensions, or he would be at a disadvantage when it eventually reached the time of reckoning.
After making it back to the obsidian flying palace, he quickly made his way back to Evelynn.
Coincidentally, Ophirya Kaelis was also there since Evelynn was with her, asking her something.
They seemed to be already in talks of sealing the Hell Poison Gem’s replica, but Ophirya Kaelis had gone much paler, not from the karmic gazes she endured earlier but the fact that she had to karmically veil a replica.
That was easier said than done.
"Fairy Evelynn, ignoring the innate difficulty of karmically veiling this treasure, it could strike me down on its own. I fear I would be poisoned to death before I could even make a move."
Ophirya Kaelis’s azure mermaid-like ear fins fluttered with concern.
"No need."
Davis echoed as he walked to them, gathering their attention. He continued, "The Hell Hydra Monarch most likely used the hell poison he absorbed from the replica to trace it back using the apex treasure with his foremost true body. In other words, he had wasted the energy source to target us as accurately as possible and appear near us from the Nether Dimension."
"Although I don’t know how he shared the hell poison essence from a sealed state because he’s being pinned down by the Celestial Transcendent in the Galaxy Wormhole Battlefield in a zone where time runs very slowly, he should not be able to cast a karmic gaze on us anymore. That only leaves us with the Celestial Transcendent’s gaze and another unknown gaze."
"We could verify if these gazes are still there, but there’s no need to bother. When we leave, we’ll leave after blinding their eyes a bit so they won’t be able to follow us."
"..."
Evelynn narrowed her brows.
She was ready to throw the Hell Poison Gem’s replica if need be, but she would be leaving a calamity in the realm, so in essence, she was prepared to surrender it to the Celestial Transcendent. After all, what use was a treasure if it was going to lead the enemies right to them?
As soon as she confirmed the Hell Hydra Monarch could detect their location with this thing, it turned out to be useless in her eyes. She could exchange it for a better conditions and outcome for their family.
But with Davis saying that the Hell Hydra Monarch might not be able to detect it anymore, at least for the time being, she wondered if she was lucky or if it was a ploy to wait for them to go back to their sanctuary and then suddenly discover them?
After pondering over his words a bit, she gazed at him, "I heard you wanted Azariel to be put in as the Realm Master, so why not give the Hell Poison Gem’s replica to him?"
Davis blinked. She had just woken up, so who told her this amidst all this chaos?
