Chapter 5288: Valued Allies
Davis had Fairy Qiyra Darkstar fly the obsidian flying palace to the place that he was told to go to meet up with the First Dark Apostle, Miraele.
Fortunately, the hidden location was nearby, so they could meet up without being exposed.
With Fairy Qiyra Darkstar personally activating the obsidian flying palace, it showed its full capability, becoming as silent as an eagle flying in the skies. It had also become concealed. Unless they were spotted through vision or a direct brush of soul sense, it would be difficult to find them.
However, the karmic gazes on them still remained variably.
But within the confines of the realm, Ophirya Kaelis mentioned four karmic gazes.
One was the Celestial Transcendent, one was the Hell Hydra Monarch, one was Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, so who was the final one?
Davis was starting to think the last and fourth karmic gaze belonged to one of the Boundless Brothers or that supreme forgemaster, or perhaps, even Leader Arnoxin.
He knew Leader Arnoxin was already here since he had said so himself.
After sending his wife to help the Divine Emperor of Death’s suicidal attempt, how could he stay silent?
The curtain of the karmic gaze was evidently due to the Heavenly Blight Hall Token, the one that identified him as the Fifth Dark Apostle. Although Fairy Qiyra Darkstar had already helped him remove the location tracking ability, it seemed like it could still be used to cast karmic gazes.
Davis could tell this wasn’t a function of the token.
It was just like how the Hell Hydra Monarch used the Hell Poison Gem to vaguely get the location of the replica Evelynn possessed. Leader Arnoxin had also used his Space-Time Quintessence Ring’s replica to karmically trace the token.
Davis felt it was fine that an ally was watching over him, but after learning about devouring cultivated Law Essences and the schemes waiting to devour him whole, he thought back to how Leader Arnoxin wanted the First Haven World Master’s corpse to strengthen himself. He supposed it was to devour her essence whole and improve his Abyssal Primordium Body by a huge margin, fueling his breakthrough into the World Hegemon Stage.
Perhaps, if he were to fail in this endeavor, he supposed Leader Arnoxin wouldn’t hesitate to descend and devour him as well while snatching him from the Celestial Transcendent, so this karmic gaze became uncomfortable, making him wonder if he should throw it away. Without their family’s Karmic Guardian Empress, Tia, who inherited a vast amount of karmic techniques, it was hard to block these karmic gazes from falling on them.
He didn’t have the chance to talk about it when he had appeared in Leader Arnoxin’s replica just a while ago.
But Leader Arnoxin’s instructions were clear.
"So you’re saying that the Heavenly Blight Hall’s Leader approves of the non-Divergents of the Davis Family residing as the rulers of the Six-Headed Hydra Galaxy?"
In Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s private quarters, where Fairy Glacia Frigidveil and Jaiyan were also present, the foremost asked in a strange yet cold tone.
"That is precisely the case." Davis answered with a nod, "Didn’t I vaguely hint about the Heavenly Blight Hall’s goal while discussing our plans to end the Desolate Era? To that end, the first step is to conquer or destroy a realm. Naturally, I don’t like destroying an entire Upper Realm just for the sake of fulfilling an unrealistic goal, so conquering it is one way to go, but I’m mostly doing it for the safety of my own family."
He said in a calm tone, his hands within his sleeves, before he turned to look at Jaiyan, who offered a wry smile.
"Whatever it is- you would be on your own from now on since we would be leaving and returning to master’s side after this."
"Hmm." Davis sounded in agreement, "It’s time that you guys left. I have taken advantage of your time too much. Take your preferred World Hegemon Grade resources before you leave. Otherwise, I’d have no face to ask for help later on."
"Haha..." Jaiyan laughed heartily, "Brother Davis sure is magnanimous and effectively calculative in managing all kinds of relationships. We have much to learn. Also, since we definitely cannot afford to decline your goodwill, I’ll take the treasures from you in my fellow disciples’ stead as well."
Davis nodded.
He was sure Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and Fairy Glacia Frigidveil would feel embarrassed to accept resources from a junior twice.
Although they also participated in the treasure hunt, they had initially said leaving was the best choice and stuck to it until he convinced them. And they were not out of danger yet, but having collected so many World Hegemon Grade resources, they had no choice but to agree that Davis’s decision had been right.
To lose access to a harvest of this scale would be unimaginable to them right now.
"I don’t want. Instead, offer me two World Hegemon Grade resources for my master if you can." Fairy Qiyra Darkstar suddenly spoke up.
"This..." Davis became hesitant.
He supposed he owed Saintess Lunaria above all for even sending her disciples to him in the first place, and telling them to follow his commands as much as possible. However, if he rewarded her, then there would be no need to reward the others for their work. Instead, it would become more of a bribe than a reward.
Davis gazed at the cold beauty and ice beauty.
These two fairies were older than some pocket worlds and mini realms, so they definitely valued face above all. They wouldn’t accept a bribe, definitely not from a junior who was on his way to supremacy, so was he supposed to believe this was their way of investing in him?
"I can’t be as magnanimous as senior sister since I finally found the resource I want." Fairy Glacia Frigidveil uttered with an amused smile.
"..." Davis considered their words for a moment before nodding, "You are all valued allies. We shared life and death together, so don’t look down on me for saying that I won’t give Saintess Lunaria a World Hegemon Grade Treasure right now since I will personally go visit her in the future and help her advance by leaps and bounds myself. We still have to make a trip to the Primeval Universe Ruins, don’t we?"
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar shook her head, "I’m afraid she might’ve already gained what she sought out to seek."
"Wait, she really went to the Primeval Universe Ruins without you all, the strongest force she has?"
Davis was stunned.
Because of the Vacuous Beasts appearing everywhere in the Three Layers every now and then, people knew the dangers the world the Vacuous Beasts came from possessed, even if they didn’t know that world was another freaking dead universe. Hence, no one would dare enter the spatial vortex leading to the Primeval Universe Ruins. The chances of returning were practically low to none for Empyrean Stage experts, so much less needs to be said about the ones below.
Even Exalts and Primarchs wouldn’t necessarily survive.
"She could’ve. We have no way of knowing since you made us stay and help you." Fairy Glacia Frigidveil shook her head.
Jaiyan nodded, "Since only two to three months have passed, it is unlikely master would’ve entered, but she thinks a few steps above us, always preparing for the future. Just like you didn’t remain hidden and struck at the Desolate Era, master would’ve also used this chance where everyone was focused on you to make a trip to the Primeval Universe Ruins to gain what she wants."
"Yeah... makes sense. Saintess Lunaria always thinks ahead." Davis agreed.
But he shrugged as he flicked his sleeves and folded his hands again, "Still, it doesn’t matter. I have my own thoughts on repaying your master. It’s just one World Hegemon Grade resource each out of many. You all should accept what we have collectively earned, or it’s tantamount to offending me, and I won’t be at ease knowing I have not fulfilled my end of the deal."
Fairy Glacia Frigidveil giggled warmly, "If it’s the Divine Emperor of Death’s command, can we possibly say no to it?"
"That’s more like it." Davis nodded with satisfaction.
"..." Fairy Qiyra Darkstar didn’t say anything.
She looked away and continued flying the obsidian palace when a soul transmission fell in her ears.
"Astral Night Demoness, truth be told- I was afraid you would flee with the treasures before I arrived, not because you’re greedy but because you’re afraid of returning to your master’s side. However, I knew I could trust you to be brave and protect the reputation of your fellow disciples. If you’re just afraid of confessing to your master about your sinful past, I have told you- there’s no need to gather gifts. Just confront her openly and sincerely. She’s your master, after all. How can she not forgive you?"
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s heart shook as she turned to gaze at him with killing intent seething in her eyes.
