Chapter 5289: The First Dark Apostle Arrives
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar didn’t appreciate her thoughts being laid bare like this, making her feel Heart Intent users were irritating beyond compare. She did indeed think about fleeing with the treasures, but merely a few more compared to all of them.
After all, how could she screw over her fellow disciples and offend this Desolate Divergent that badly? She just wanted to sour relations so none of them would ever approach her again, and she could be alone the way she’d lived most of her life.
Yet, this little Divergent had grown so quickly to the level of a Peak Exalt that he was now able to uncover her thoughts with just a few of her utterances and body language.
Even for her, he was honestly a bit scary and downright offensive to be reading her like an open book.
But even as she tried to cow Davis with her killing intent, he simply smiled as he waved his hand at the projection that displayed the path ahead.
"We’ve arrived."
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar glared at him, eventually having no choice but to control the obsidian flying palace and then move to the hall before the entrance.
She guessed that for him to be able to see her this clearly, he must’ve been observing her a lot.
Why? Just caution?
Why would he say he trusted her so much?
While her thoughts fell into disarray, Davis was still lamenting how he couldn’t see through Fairy Glacia Frigidveil.
His own Will was clearly trying to take seeing through them as a challenge, not willing to keep losing. If he didn’t curb this, it would become an obsession. However, he would also like to know what this enigmatic Frostcloud Sword Empress always kept thinking with a light, warm smile.
Nonetheless, he didn’t probe too much.
On the other hand, Jaiyan’s emotions and his thoughts couldn’t be anymore clear.
He was experiencing a new joyous high after having gained a wife and a life-and-death brother. Davis also felt greatly receptive to him. Without Jaiyan, he would’ve missed an integral part of poking a hole in Heaven’s Will to overturn the Desolate Era.
Finally, they arrived before the only open entrance.
Eventually, a woman clad in an unremarkable black robe with her face hidden by a faceless mask appeared at the entrance without making a single sound. It wasn’t until they directly spotted her that they were able to become aware of her presence.
Even when he had met her in the replica, Davis had felt that her presence was light, almost absent, as though she was a ghost. Now, he got to see it in the real world, becoming impressed.
He still remembered she was a Peak Exalt, an Alpha Exalt at the layer limit who possessed what she called the Nullification Rune Sovereign Body and killed a Venerable Knight, an actual Absolute Primarch, while facing another Venerable Knight, who was also another Absolute Primarch, all by herself but with the usage of the Leader Arnoxin’s bloodsoul essence.
Still, when Davis thought about it, he felt that this feat was insane.
It goes to say how Divergents at a lower level could even make supreme geniuses even with the support of the heavens run for their lives.
Davis was well aware it would not be easy to kill Heaven’s Warriors.
The heavens would aid them in their revival should they have methods to do so. The fact that the Absolute Primarch was unable to revive after being killed shows how cunning the First Dark Apostle was, other than her powers.
It was a pity that Omega Exalts and Absolute Primarchs were destined to be suppressed by the Second Layer. Their playground simply wasn’t in this space. He had heard that once they got to the Greater Realm, even some World Hegemons would need to be respectful to them since they carried greater potential to run amok than World Hegemons who would be restricted by more rules.
After all, if a World Hegemon acted, then other World Hegemons also wouldn’t sit still.
On the other hand, an Omega Exalt was still an Exalt! Yet, it almost put them on par with World Hegemons!
Nonetheless, he had informed Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and the others about the First Dark Apostle.
The First Dark Apostle approached them without fear, her body language completely confident and aloof. With her chin raised, she panned her gaze at them, her eyes eventually settling on Fairy Qiyra Darkstar. Her lips curled behind her mask.
"It would be difficult to survive against you all if you were to make a move now, but I reckon I would at least be able to take one of you with me." She said in a challenging tone.
"First Dark Apostle surely jests." Davis moved forward with a chuckle.
But inwardly, he was speechless. She was just the crazy he had heard her to be from the other Dark Apostles, intentionally provoking others to engage in a bloodthirsty fight and then trying to escalate it until she emerged as the victor or fled successfully. Anyone’s thought would be to measure the other group on the first meeting, but would they go as far as to say that they could take down one with them in a challenging tone?
On the other hand, Saintess Lunaria’s disciples just remained silent. They were not one to easily fall for provocations.
"No, no, I would truly love to have a battle with a loose organization that gets in our way a few times, and teach them a lesson."
"Tell your Second Dark Apostle to not involve innocents then." Fairy Qiyra Darkstar coldly said.
The First Dark Apostle’s gaze widened with a cold light, "We have- but it was not your place to take punitive actions against us."
"Alright, that’s about enough."
Davis waved his hand with a chuckle and cupped his hands, "I welcome the First Dark Apostle aboard this palace. It’s not much, but I have prepared a World Hegemon Grade resource and two Peak-Level Exalt Grade resources on top of the two Peak-Level Exalt Grade resources and eight High-Level Exalt Grade resources I had given my word last time to present."
"Very good."
The First Dark Apostle nodded as her gaze fell back to him. She glanced at him with her crazy-arching eyes and said in a cold tone, "We have praised you endlessly for overturning the Desolate Era and bringing down something as incredulous as the Golden Era, and you have proved yourself one of us and worthy of our protection even without having to complete a mission. I’ll be willing to help you again, but this time around, there’s a wide net cast in this realm, which makes it a bit difficult to leave, and I don’t want my husband to reveal himself just for our sake. There are just too many avatars of the Celestial Transcendent, meaning while helping you, escape might prove to be futile for me, who isn’t included in the seven-day reprieve you received, so this time, you need to protect me and safely deliver me away from this realm using her ability of traveling stars."
"That goes without saying."
Davis put down his hand and gestured inside, "It must be tiring fleeing from that damned old geezer. Please take some rest if you wish. We still have two to three days left."
"No, it’s getting dangerous by the hour. We need to leave now."
"Very well."
Davis also nodded. He was also just being polite since he would give a few hours for her to rest.
He turned around and gave Fairy Qiyra Darkstar more Peak-Level Transcendent Crystal Vein Cores to supplement her astral technique that used stars to travel. And after that, he handed over the resources he promised to give to the Heavenly Blight Hall for their help.
It hurt a bit to hand over World Hegemon Grade resources, but it is what it is.
Should he act greedy, they might not be willing to help him next time. In fact, he was even profiting by taking so many World Hegemon Grade resources for himself since he hadn’t collected them all by himself, and he was worried that his allies might start to feel he was too stingy.
After all, if Fairy Qiyra Darkstar and the others could obtain World Hegemon Grade resources, they would’ve long entered the World Hegemon Stage or died trying in their powerful tribulations. Regardless, as cultivators, they had long prepared themselves for death, and as Divergents, the only way was to move forward.
Stagnating would only get them killed or sealed. If it weren’t for Saintess Lunaria’s teaching, they wouldn’t have laid so low and had perished like the other Divergents who shone as bright as the stars for a moment, only to be soon forgotten by the public because of karmic burden.
Since they also had an entire group to take care of, the number of World Hegemon Grade resources he had alone was enough to steal and flee, leaving him here to be sealed.
Could Saintess Lunaria berate them if she didn’t know the truth?
Yet again, it was Saintess Lunaria’s teachings that had stopped them from even thinking about such a thing, except Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, who had somewhat strayed from the teachings. However, he had trust in Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, so as much as he was cautious, he didn’t feel the need to guard against her since he ultimately guessed she wouldn’t do it because she was the big sister of all the disciples and had a reputation to maintain, and above all, sought her master’s forgiveness yet couldn’t bring herself to confess.
Soon, they made their preparations to leave and began enacting their plan.
As for tallying and recording all the treasures gained so far from the treasure hunt and exchange for the treasure maps which Jaiyan and Laphria helped his avatar oversee, Davis felt like that could wait after he returned home. He wouldn’t blame them even if they secretly pocketed some High-Level and Peak-Level Exalt Grade treasures since they absolutely deserved it for their help on top of their prime rewards.
