Chapter 4149: Anura Order
A waterfall plunged into the lake, and lotus leaves swayed in the water. Bands of seven-colored light occasionally streaked across the sky, even falling upon the land at times.
A few small toads happily hopped about, cheering as they bounced around. Each one carried a lotus leaf above its head, which looked quite amusing.
From time to time, larger Seven-Treasure Anura would leap past the lake, loudly scolding others and frightening the little ones, who scurried back to their homes.
Inside a mountain, a murky gaze turned to peer across the Aevum Inch. “Some unknown creature spied on our missing kin through karma. At the time, I was furious. No one is allowed to pry into my Seven-Treasures Astral Anuras, not even Obscura.
“But now, when I think back, regardless of whether it was actually Obscura peering into karma, they may not have known about my Seven-Treasure Anura. That incident might have been unintentional.”
Old Fifth blinked. “Ancestor, our opponent is Obscura.”
The Ancestor chuckled. “Not necessarily. I have seen countless civilizations use similar methods as a means of self-preservation. Still, the other side must have some connection to Obscura. Given Obscura’s nature, they either intend for that party to destroy some civilization, or they intend for us, the Seven-Treasure Anura, to destroy a civilization.”
Old Fifth remained silent and just listened to the Ancestor’s words.
The Ancestor was the wisest. Even Old Fifth was a bit lacking in comparison. Yes, just a small bit.
“The other side was not previously aware of us Seven-Treasure Anuras, but they should know of us now. If our missing kin is able to return safely, there is no need to get tangled up with some other civilization. Obscura is our true enemy.”
Old Fourth reminded, “What about the slugs? They’re there as well.”
The Ancestor’s murky gaze shifted to Old Fourth. “So, the slugs are the bait to lure us Seven-Treasure Anura into taking action.”
“Old Fifth, is that true?”
“Of course it is! Ancestor is a little smarter than even me to think of it first. I only realized it just now.”
“Then what about the slugs? Are we not going to look for them?”
“Hehe, forget the slugs. There are plenty more of the Tricolor Skyborne. Given enough time, another batch of delicious ones will be born. Bring our kin back first. Any civilization that Obscura wants us to destroy cannot be simple.”
A dim light flickered deep in the murky eyes. “It has been a long time since I gave out an Anura Order. Grant them one. We will see if they are a friend or enemy.”
Old Fourth and Old Fifth were shocked. “Is Ancestor really going to give an Anura Order?”
“I can give them one, but let’s see if they dare to accept it.”
With that, Old Fourth and Old Fifth were tossed out of the mountain. “While I can overlook your incompetence, you frightened the children upon your return. For that, you are to be punished. Go and reflect before the wall.”
“No, Old Ancesto-”
“No, Old Ancesto-”
As they protested, the image of a toad’s hand streaked across the sky into outer space, shooting into the distance.
Countless eyes trembled. An Anura Order... After so long, is Ancestor about to act?
...
Half a year had passed in the Allsense Megaverse. Mo Bai had stayed with Luo Yan that entire time, and she had picked up on his fondness for her. The truth was that he was not the only one. Over the years, many humans had developed feelings for her, including some truly powerful individuals, some of whom had even tried to threaten or tempt her. She and Yu Leng had always detested such situations, which was another reason why they had always tried to remain hidden.
However, there was no need to hide from Luo Yan. Instead, Mo Bai revealed even greater charm, in a bid to gain more information.
She was fully aware that Luo Yan considered her his only confidant. Out of everyone in human civilization, she was the only one with whom he could freely talk about Lu Yin’s faults.
“When is Lord Lu going to leave?” Mo Bai asked curiously.
Over these six months, Hui Can had occasionally come to chat with them, letting them know that Lu Yin still had not left.
Luo Yan said, “According to Hui Can, he’s waiting for a Greater Sancte.”
“A Greater Sancte?”
“That’s right. Since we are to serve as humanity’s legacy, we need an Immortal guardian. The Nine Odysseys Megaverse still hasn’t decided which Immortal will take on that role.”
Mo Bai frowned. “If they can’t choose, does that mean that Lu Yin won’t leave?”
Luo Yan whispered, “That’s impossible, as he is considered even more important than an Immortal.”
Mo Bai was puzzled by that explanation. “More important than an Immortal?”
Luo Yan nodded. “I don’t understand the details, but it seems that Immortals have certain unique limitations. However, while Lu Yin has the combat power of an Immortal, he lacks their limitations. That’s why the Nine Odysseys Megaverse needs to send an actual Immortal to replace him here.”
There was a brief pause before he explained, “According to Hui Can, Lu Yin is the reason why those snails were defeated. Before he went, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse fought those snails several times, but they were nearly defeated each time. Despite that, all of the snails were simply slaughtered by him.”
“Vicious,” Mo Bai said.
Luo Yan said, “Forget about him. There’s no doubt that he’ll be fighting in the next civilization war. Hopefully, he’ll die on the battlefield. It doesn’t matter which Immortal is sent to protect us.”
Mo Bai laughed. “True. Thank you for staying with me.”
Luo Yan stared blankly at Mo Bai’s smile. He could not help but lean a bit closer to her.
Mo Bai took a step back, her face slightly flushed.
Luo Yan snapped back to his senses and forced a smile. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine. I’m just not used to such things. Give it a bit of time.” Mo Bai ducked her head, her ears turning red.
The sight caused Luo Yan’s throat to go dry. “I-”
At that moment, his communication device vibrated. Hui Can was calling.
Luo Yan stepped aside to answer.
Mo Bai’s head rose, but there was none of the shyness that Luo Yan had imagined. Instead, it was pure disgust that flushed her eyes. Humans, so disgusting!
She glanced at the distant gate and then retrieved the Nest that she had kept hidden all this time. The time had come. Master, come.
Somewhere outside of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, a green stalk trembled. “So that’s where it is. Luo Chan, come.”
“Yes, Master.”
In an instant, Luo Chan transported the Immortal Lord around the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, teleporting several times until they arrived outside the Allsense Megaverse. They both stared ahead.
“Master, is that the place that the human civilization has chosen to take refuge in? Isn’t it too close?”
“It may indeed be close to you, but for the human civilization, this is really quite far. Even for an ordinary Immortal, it would take them years to reach this megaverse from their own. Still, for the Immortal who has mastered karma, it is indeed quite close.”
“Could this be a trap?”
The Immortal Lord fell silent for a moment. “Go and speak with Mo Bai to see what is happening.”
“Understood.”
Luo Chan vanished.
The Immortal Lord was not worried about Luo Chan’s safety, as Luo Chan had never directly interacted with Mo Bai before. Even if the humans were aware of Mo Bai’s identity, they would not be able to use her to capture Luo Chan.
The only way that could be possible was if the human civilization treated the entire megaverse as a cage, which was clearly impossible. They were also unable to restrain the Immortal Lord themselves. That was beyond humanity’s abilities.
Not even the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm could trap Luo Chan. The human karma expert was still within the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and no other human was able to trap Luo Chan.
Several days later, Luo Chan returned. “Master, this place is a waystation. Obscura has left a gate here, and Mo Bai has also learned that this is where Lan Meng first moved against the human civilization.”
“Here?”
“Yes. Many saw a blue sword, there is absolutely no doubt about that. However, only a few are aware that the blue sword originated from this Allsense Megaverse.”
“No wonder Obscura has a gate here. What about the Spirit Nidus?”
“The gate there is fake, though it’s publicly claimed to be real. They spent five years to reach this megaverse, traveling at the speed of an Immortal. If human civilization is destroyed, the people here will escape through this gate.”
The Immortal Lord replied, “I see... A path forward and a path to retreat. This makes it convenient for Immortals to participate in the upcoming war, yet it also allows them to withdraw at any moment. No wonder they chose this place.”
“Mo Bai says that this place should be real,” Luo Chan added.
The Immortal Lord said nothing further.
They had paid a terrible price to investigate the last set of coordinates that they had acquired from the humans. While the Immortal Lord initially believed that they had fallen into a trap, after careful consideration, they realized that the humans were not that foolish. Even if they were aware that the Hui-Silver Sky Army had prepared a trap in that place, they should have known that such a trap could not kill the Immortal Lord. So why prepare such a pointless trap?
The only explanation was that the humans themselves did not know what lay at those coordinates and that Luo Yan had truly acquired the coordinates by accident.
If the coordinates had been a trap, the Immortal Lord would be far warier of the humans, and they would even suspect that Mo Bai had been exposed.
The Allsense Megaverse was exactly the same as the previous situation. Could It be a trap? That was highly unlikely.
Still, to be safe, it was necessary to confirm everything.
“Speak with Mo Bai again and confirm if the gate in the Spirit Nidus truly does not lead straight to this place.”
“Yes, Master.”
After a few more days, Luo Chan returned. “She has confirmed that the gate there cannot directly connect to this Allsense Megaverse.”
The Immortal Lord stared in the direction of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. It took five years to travel from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse to the Allsense Megaverse, even for Immortals. That meant that, as long as humanity’s few capable Immortals were confirmed to be in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, there was no need to worry about the Allsense Megaverse being a trap. That was because Lu Yin was present.
With only Lu Yin present, then the humans could forget about trapping the Immortal Lord—the insects could even easily kill Lu Yin.
The next moment, a green stalk grew, swelling and reaching for the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.
Within the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, above the Sea of Karma, Greater Sancte Green Lotus looked up and roared, “Bug, why do you attack again and again?”
The Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm churned, and the cosmos itself started to collapse.
Two figures rose upwards, heartlamps appearing and spreading out as Awecloud’s sharp blade flashed. Both Ku Deng and Greater Sancte Awe Gate attacked the green stalk in unison.
The Immortal Lord could sense that the two Immortals were also in the Nine Odysseys Megaverses and relaxed a bit. Still, that was not enough. There was still one more Immortal unaccounted for.
The next instant, Kang Tian made its move. Colored-Glass shot upwards to collide with the green stalk.
The Immortal Lord pulled back. This was enough. All of the human civilization’s Immortals had retaliated, which meant that Lu Yin was alone in the Allsense Megaverse.
There was no trap in place.
Still, there was something missing. The Immortal Lord needed to fully test the human civilization’s circumstances in order to fully eliminate any possibility of there being a trap.
“Luo Chan, deliver that beast to the Tianyuan Megaverse.”
“Yes, Master!” Luo Chan was thrilled. They were finally starting. Human civilization could never have imagined that a Verdant Sage had seen through their plans. Their master had been able to confirm that all of humanity’s Immortals were still in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, which meant that no one could help the Tianyuan or the Allsense Megaverse.
The Tianyuan would be destroyed, and all of the humans in the Allsense Megaverse would die, including Lu Yin.
He had nearly killed Luo Chan before, and thus, he had to die.
The Nest civilization had never been as humiliated as when they had attacked the human civilization.
Luo Chan’s teleportation ability allowed the insects to rampage everywhere, but when they attacked the human civilization, all four Insect Lords had been either killed or captured. Even their Immortal Verdant Sages had died and been crippled. Their losses were unbearable.
All of that would be returned to the humans.
The green stalk shone brilliantly. The debts owed for the death of the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage and the crippling of the humanoid Verdant Sage would both be avenged this day.
The human civilization believed that the Immortal Lord needed to cooperate with Obscura in order to move against humanity, but compared to Obscura, the Nest civilization’s greatest advantage was their Verdant Sages. Mo Bai appeared completely human, to the point where no one could detect her true origins. That was the Nest Civilization’s greatest advantage.
They want to preserve a legacy? Impossible.
If it was not possible to slaughter the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, they would start with the Tianyuan and Lu Yin. The Nest civilization would proceed one step at a time, until the entire human civilization was wiped out.
