Chapter 4380: The Guard Of Truth And Falsehood
The Immortal Lord had forgotten that Lu Yin had captured Luo Chan with the use of teleportation, and they had forgotten how human civilization had severely wounded them, and they had even forgotten sharing information regarding Yue Lu and the Plume Immortals. All of that had been wiped from their memory.
The only thing that the Immortal Lord remembered was suddenly appearing in a strange region of the cosmos after being badly injured, but they had never known who had wounded them.
Hearing Ming Yu’s words and matching that to the instinctive unease that rose from deep within made the Immortal Lord think of a possibility. Could it be? But if it really was him, why did he let me go?
The Immortal Lord could not understand.
“What is wrong with you?” Ming Yu asked, its cold gaze sweeping over to the Immortal Lord.
They replied, “Why can a human teleport?”
Ming Yu stared at the green stalk for a long moment before finally looking away. “How would I know? Aside from the Plume Immortals, no species is allowed to possess the ability to teleport. That human must die. After this war, we will attack that human civilization. Yue Lu has already set its sights on them.”
The Immortal Lord fell silent. Attack that human civilization? Their Nest civilization had once attempted the same, believing themselves to hold absolute superiority, and yet the results had been disastrous.
What made humans the most terrifying was not their strength, but rather their schemes. The Immortal Lord did not want to participate in a war against that human civilization. If Lu Yin was able to teleport, who knew what other abilities he might have.
“Stand guard on the other side and be careful. That human’s teleportation ability is not perfect, but aside from a limited range, it is no different from ours. He also possesses impressive power, having successfully escaped from me several times. He cannot be underestimated,” Ming Yu warned.
“Understood,” the Immortal Lord replied before moving towards the other side of the great tree’s crown. Below them, myriad birds circled the tree, preventing any creature from discovering even the smallest opening.
This great tree was the Plume Immortals’ home and was of utmost importance.
Despite Ming Yu’s cautious words to the Immortal Lord, deep down, the bird did not consider Lu Yin to be a serious opponent. The human had always avoided fighting the Plume Immortal, and the Immortal Lord was equally powerful. With the two of them guarding the tree, Lu Yin would never dare to reveal himself, even if he was nearby.
Ming Yu could never imagine what Lu Yin would actually do.
The surprise came abruptly. A figure appeared in Ming Yu’s vision, followed by a river of sword intent. The golden radiance of the Investiture of the Gods was dazzling and blinding.
The bird’s expression shifted from astonishment to anger, and Ming Yu then started to radiate intense killing intent. This human actually dared to attack.
It raised its talons and slashed at Lu Yin. The river of sword intent was effortlessly torn apart. Ming Yu shrieked, “Human, you seek death!”
From the other side of the tree, the Immortal Lord watched. Lu Yin had truly arrived. What confidence must he possess to face both Ming Yu and the Immortal Lord at the same time, not to mention the other Immortal being that remained down below?
This was simply impossible. Lu Yin would never seek death. There had to be another powerhouse hidden in the shadows.
Lu Yin suddenly opened Heaven’s Sight. Purple sight power fell as the Manifestation Beyond the Pupil appeared.
Ming Yu ripped apart the river of sword intent with a single talon while thrusting a Godplume Spear straight at Lu Yin. It was already prepared for the human to escape. This sudden attack could not be a suicide attempt, but rather a scheme to lure Ming Yu away from the tree instead.
Lu Yin stared at the Godplume Spear as black plates of armor appeared around him.
The Godplume Spear slammed into the black plates, and Ming Yu’s killing intent transformed into shock. Impossible! The human actually blocked my Godplume Spear.
Before the bird’s thoughts could continue any further, the river of sword intent that it had just severed reformed itself and struck.
Ming Yu refused to believe Lu Yin was actually capable of blocking a Godplume Spear and attacked again and again, each time striking the fifteen armor plates that had merged with Lu Yin’s Manifestation Beyond the Pupil.
Lu Yin knew that only these fifteen plates were capable of blocking the Godplume Spears. After all, they had once managed to seal a three-law powerhouse. Ming Yu did not know this, and it simply saw that Lu Yin’s Manifestation Beyond the Pupil was stopping its attacks. The Godplume Spears embodied the absolute power obtained from devouring Immortals and strengthening from All Paths Return to One. Any one of the Godplume Spears should pierce through any force. Why had they all been stopped?
The river of sword intent slashed against Ming Yu, and yet the bird remained unharmed. However, hidden within that river was a Dao Sword, which delivered a surprise attack.
Ming Yu instantly vanished. Lu Yin’s heart sank. His Dao Sword had been discovered.
Ming Yu appeared behind him. “You want to ambush me with karma? Human, you underestimate me.”
Its talons fell upon the Manifestation Beyond the Pupil to test its strength.
Lu Yin frowned as his body withered. His Karmic Dao exploded out as he raised a hand and slashed two fingers at Ming Yu, severing karma.
Ming Yu teleported away, utterly unaffected.
Lu Yin also teleported away, avoiding the attack. Manifestation Beyond the Pupil could only be used at critical moments. Using it extensively would expose its weaknesses.
Ming Yu kept launching multiple Godplume Spears, and the battle returned to its former state of Lu Yin being relentlessly pursued by the bird.
The Immortal Lord simply watched, as did the Immortal bird down below. Since Ming Yu had not ordered either of them to intervene, they made no moves.
Lu Yin cast a glance into the distance. The Immortal Lord clearly had no intention of getting involved, which meant that Lu Yin did not yet pose a true threat to Ming Yu. Protecting the tree was the true goal of all three Immortals.
However, that also meant that Lu Yin still had options available. If Ming Yu was not facing any pressure, then he would simply create some.
Lu Yin’s eyes grew cold. The stars of divine energy spun within his inner universe. It was time to use that power.
This battlefield was putting immense pressure upon Lu Yin. The reality was that he was completely unqualified to participate in a battle of this level, but for the sake of his own survival and that of his human civilization, he had no choice.
Fortunately he had used this power before, and that was why he knew that, even when using all three lines of divine energy, he could retain a sliver of reason. However, he did not need to go that far at this time.
The red and silver lines appeared and merged. The moment they did so, his eyes released a burst of blinding light, one red and one silver. There was a surge of divine energy that shot upwards like a rainbow piercing the cosmos. While this eruption was not nearly as overwhelming as the tri-colored transformation, it still made Ming Yu’s eye twitch.
What is this? Two of Obscura’s divine energies? Why does this seem familiar...?
This is not a power that an Aberrant should possess.
The dual-colored divine energy formed a mist that spun around Lu Yin. His red and silver eyes narrowed as he threw a palm strike at Ming Yu.
A beam of divine energy shot at the bird, who raised its talons and slashed out in a counter.
A thunderous boom shattered the cosmos. Ming Yu was pushed back. It stared on in utter disbelief. What powerful divine energy!
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered as he stepped forward, charging at his opponent. If he had attacked with a beam of tri-colored divine energy, Ming Yu would not have endured it that easily. Ni Ren had been damaged and torn apart by a single blast of that power.
Both Ni Ren and Ming Yu were two-law Immortals, and they possessed similar levels of strength. If tri-colored divine energy was enough to defeat Ni Ren, then it could also defeat Ming Yu, provided that the bird did not escape.
Of course, this comparison was based solely on the power that Ming Yu had revealed so far. The truth was that the Plume Immortals Civilization was far stronger than the Mudwater Dominion, which meant that Ming Yu was definitely keeping some abilities hidden still.
The bird’s eyes grew savage. It teleported above Lu Yin and its talons fell while Godplume Spears filled the surrounding space.
If he were using tri-colored divine energy, Lu Yin might not have even bothered to dodge these attacks, but with just two colors of divine energy, his instincts and combat experience remained intact. He teleported away and fired another beam of divine energy.
In an instant, a fierce battle erupted around the great tree. While only two creatures were fighting, it felt like armies were clashing. They constantly teleported about, circling the tree as shockwaves spread outward, striking the creatures down below.
Ming Yu realized that it was unable to overpower Lu Yin. The merged divine energies formed a terrifying armor that protected him. While Ming Yu’s Godplume Spears could pierce that armor, Lu Yin could also evade them. Meanwhile, when Lu Yin combined his divine energy with the power that he gathered with Extremes Must Be Reversed, the resulting attacks wounded Ming Yu for the first time.
At the moment, its feathers were burning and its blood was streaming from Ming Yu’s beak. Its gaze grew more vicious than ever before.
It, a mighty two-law Plume Immortal, had actually been wounded by a human Aberrant. Unforgivable! Kill! Kill! Kill!
Ming Yu’s eyes turned manic as the bird recklessly attacked with Godplume Spears. Some of them even shot in the direction of the enormous tree, while others skewered creatures protecting the lower regions of the tree. Blood splattered across the cosmos.
Lu Yin constantly teleported about to avoid the attacks. All the while, rainbow-like divine energy illuminated the region. Suddenly, a Dao Sword struck Ming Yu, leaving the bird dazed for a brief moment. Seizing that opportunity Lu Yin unleashed a terrifying attack with his dual divine energy, tearing away a tuft of feathers from Ming Yu’s head and opening up a wound that dripped blood into the bird’s eyes.
Ming Yu suddenly stopped moving. It hovered in place while staring downward in a daze. It had stopped moving entirely.
Lu Yin still held the tuft of feathers. Raising his hand, he burned them to ashes with divine energy. He blew the ashes away. His red and silver eyes glimmered viciously. “Just a bird. I’ll stew you to make soup.”
Ming Yu raised its head. Both of its eyes grew colder than ever as it spoke in an eerie tone that echoed across the cosmos, “The cosmos holds lies. Protection has truth and falsehood. I want to protect you.”
Even as the divine energy eroded Lu Yin’s reason, he was stunned by those words. Protect me?
Godplume Spears suddenly appeared and shot at Lu Yin. He instinctively prepared to dodge, but as the spears drew near, they collided with one another and exploded, releasing dazzling sparks that filled his vision.
Lu Yin stared in astonishment. Not a single spear had struck him. Every last one had been intercepted by another.
What is happening? Why is Ming Yu striking its own spears?
Something was wrong. Lu Yin recalled the bird’s earlier words: “The cosmos holds lies. Protection has truth and falsehood.”
Was this Ming Yu’s second cosmic law?
Lu Yin immediately teleported away. Ming Yu did the same, its talons falling toward Lu Yin’s head. He raised a hand and blasted a beam of divine energy that met the talons and forced Ming Yu back. More Godplume Spears appeared, but they once again collided with one another before reaching him. Just as Ming Yu had said, it was protecting him, yet all of the attacks were still the bird’s own.
Lu Yin’s discomfort grew stronger. He could only continuously teleport about while firing beams of divine energy to destroy the spears before they collided with each other, or try to open up a bit of distance. He noticed that the Godplume Spears had to be a certain distance from him before they would run into each other.
Could this be Ming Yu’s unseen world? As Lu Yin was thinking this, Ming Yu’s voice, cold to the extreme, rang out by his ear. “The Guardian of Truth and Falsehood.”
As the words fell, around Lu Yin, every point where the Godplume Spears had struck moments ago reappeared. It was as though they moved with his body, as though fixed coordinates had been marked upon him. One after another, they emerged like stars adorning the night sky, before all of them came crashing down toward his body.
