"Freyja, I still have a little hangover from last night. Can we go to the lab now?" I sighed.
I went from classroom to classroom doing the same with several other students until I reached classroom number thirty, where I became a little exhausted from it.
"A-Ah! I'm so sorry," she apologized. "I just wanted the children to see their Goddess Empress and gain confidence and determination to study more, but surely, I guess the lab is more important."
"Are you trying to manipulate her? It won't work," Redgaria said.
"Yeah, show me the damn lab," I said.
"Y-Yes..." Freyja sighed.
Freyja led me through the corridors into another building and then down a series of staircases leading to a huge underground lab.
The laboratory was filled with many alchemy tools and highly technological devices. Most of them seemed to have been assembled by Charlotte or our daughter.
There, we saw large machines constantly studying pieces of rainbow-colored crystallized spirit essence, other spiritual materials, metals, and even corpses of blood beasts, fragments of a demonic core, and more.
"Welcome to our humble laboratory, Kireina-sama. Ah, looks like the kids are here at least!" Freyja said happily. "Come on now, come greet Kireina and tell her your names and divinities."
The two girls slowly approached us as Freyja gently patted their shoulders. Both girls were quite silent, looking at me with wide eyes, surprised to see me show up out of nowhere.
"N-Nice... to meet you... I am Somnara, Demigoddess of Dreamy Eyes. I... like to look at things."
After seeing her, it was quite clear she was Bilili's daughter. Somnara had octopus-like tendrils for hair, with pink and red colors, three colorful gold, pink, and red eyes, and ethereal, semitransparent pink skin. She wore a white shirt, a pink skirt, and a white lab coat. She seemed quite shy.
"Nice to meet you... I'm Magmara, Demigoddess of Molten Dreams."
Magmara looked a little similar to her sister, but she clearly inherited more from Vulcan, as she had lava-like skin, glowing red eyes, and tentacled hair made of volcanic stone and covered with flames. Her clothes were similar but made of spiritual fire instead.
"Nice to meet you girls. I've heard you are the daughters of two old friends. You're both very adorable, and I'm glad you're studying in this academy," I said with a smile. "Thank you for helping Freyja so much so far."
"W-Wow... I-I mean... we did what... we wanted, really..." Somnara muttered shyly.
"Hm. Studying strange things is fun," Magmara nodded.
"Both aren't the best at communication, but they do their best," Freyja giggled. "Somnara here wields the Divine Authority of [Dreamy Eyes], weaving dreams that soothe and heal allies or confuse and weaken foes. Her powers are potent in dream realms but weak in reality. So she usually creates Dream Domains to help. And Magmara wields the Divine Authority of [Molten Dreams], forging dream-based lava constructs that burn or shield. Her powers are strong but tied to dream realms too, but they can be more tangible and can even create Dream Realm Fragments as they burn. This is why they work so well together, complementing each other's weaknesses."
"Huh, that's really interesting! Dream Gods are incredibly rare, so I'm glad to have you both on the team," I said. "Come on, don't be shy around me. You can even call me auntie. Are your parents busy with work today?"
"They went to explore some distant island where there seems to be a lot of Dream Essence," Somnara explained with a shy expression on her face.
"They said that the materials they can get from that place could prove useful for our project," Magmara said.
"Oh, okay, that's interesting," I nodded. "An island with Dream Essence... I would really like to see that for myself."
"Are you really the goddess of this world? Like the supreme ruler?" Magmara asked.
"Our parents don't really like you that much..." Somnara said. "They said that you abandoned them..."
"Gah..." I let out a small, pained groan as I realized that I had indeed abandoned them. "I'm sorry... Can you tell them that I am very sorry about that? It was never my intention to abandon them. So many things happened and... well, there's no real excuse."
"Well, they got over it after we were born, I think..." Magmara said. "Now they don't really mention you that much... I am sure they would be happy to know that you came to see them."
"Really? Well, I'm glad to hear that, I guess..." I sighed. "Now I wish they were here, but there's not really any need. They are free to do whatever they want, after all. Nonetheless, I wanted to ask you girls about your current investigation. Freyja told me a bit more, but I wanted to learn more about it from you. She said you two were geniuses, and without your help, she would have never been able to get this far."
"Really?" Somnara asked.
"Thank you, teacher..." Magmara smiled.
"A-Ah! Kireina, did you have to tell them like that? Now this became quite embarrassing..." Freyja sighed, growing redder and more embarrassed.
"Hey, what's wrong with that? They're your students, right? So it's fine to be proud of their accomplishments. Right, girls?" I asked them.
"Hm!" Somnara nodded.
"I don't mind the attention and praise..." Magmara smiled.
"Anyway, your teacher told me you've been developing something that could help me detect the entities from the Spiritual Plane," I said.
"Ah, yes, the device..." Somnara nodded.
"We've already made a new one. You should keep it. We fixed various problems," Magmara said.
The two girls walked around the lab and then returned with a device resembling a wristwatch, made of gold and pink metal and embedded with many runes and small crystals.
At the center was a small rainbow crystal surrounded by many smaller ones of various other colors, and they were imbued with runes composed of divine power and dream energy.
"This is our newest creation, the Spirit Detector. It ignores the normal spirits we all know and only detects the aliens that come from the Spiritual Plane," Magmara explained.
