Death… And Me

Chapter 3728: Bad Relationship

Chapter 3728: Bad Relationship

Sure, there weren’t many Obsidian Dreadoxes remaining, but that was the case for the high-level Dreadoxes. There wouldn’t be much of a point in sending the Dreadoxes that still hadn’t acquired sentience. Talking about sentience, in the Werdlem Empire, it was pretty common for that to happen around Stage Five for Demon Beasts. It was very similar to the Mortal Realm of the Lisan Universe.

Of course, there were more stages until a Demon Beast reaches the Transition Realm, Demon Insects in this case. For the Dreadoxes, they kept all those at Stage Eight and below behind.

As for those above this level, around 90% of them were sent out, leaving just a few behind to protect the Dreadoxes’ home. It made sense since they always lived in Mountain Ranges where rare Divine Minerals could be found. In this specific Mountain Range, three Space-Time and one Middle Stage Divinity Realm Dreadoxes were guarding the fort.

Rean and Kentucky flew slowly in the direction of the highest mountain. Even though they were a few hundred kilometers away, they soon noticed a Divine Sense scanning the local. Neither Rean nor Kentucky tried to hide, so the Divine Sense focused on them.

’Who are-’ The Divinity Realm Dreadox was about to ask, but he immediately recognized Kentucky, who wasn’t hiding his real race this time. ’A Minokawa? There wasn’t supposed to be any of you here. Come to the mountain.’

Rean and Kentucky nodded, and soon, they were received by several Dreadoxes. All of them were in their real form, mostly because they didn’t have the cultivation to change to a humanoid form yet. There was one at the front who was different, though. "I’m Gulis, Fruier is waiting for you up there." This guy was in the Space-Time Realm, one of the three who remained in the mountain range.

The Dreadoxes gathered around, their sizes truly occupying most of the space. Some were even eating Divine Ores, making Kentucky slightly jealous. "Can I have so-"

"Later!" Rean cut in. "Let’s have our talk first."

"Tch..." Kentucky didn’t like it, but continued to follow.

Soon, the young and low-level Dreadoxes were left behind. Near the top of the mountain, a middle-aged woman with crystalline wings on her back and some other insect features waited for them.

She didn’t look very happy, though. "What is a Minokawa doing here? Is your race intending to attack our Mountain Range to rob us of our Divine Ores and minerals? This sure would be a good chance, wouldn’t it?"

Rean whispered to Kentucky. "I didn’t know your Minokawa Race was on bad terms with these insects..."

Kentucky’s mouth twitched. "I didn’t even know this insect race existed until a moment ago!"

Fruier narrowed her eyes. "Stop wasting my time and speak. What is a Minokawa doing in here? If you don’t give me a good reason, don’t blame me for putting you two down. Actually..." She looked at Rean, "What kind of shit race are you?"

"Me? I’m just a mongrel..." Rean shrugged. "I don’t think there is a name for my race, and maybe saying I have a race isn’t entirely correct either."

Fruier wondered if that was the truth, but didn’t give it much attention. "Is that so? Whatever. Speak, what is it?"

Rean and Kentucky nodded, with Rean bringing out the feather. "We were told that if we brought this feather here, the Obsidian Dreadoxes would help us get in contact with the two Minokawas leading the Demon Beasts."

"Leading... the Demon Beasts?" Fruier didn’t like how Rean put his words at all. "We would never allow ourselves to be commanded by the likes of Minokawas! Are you here to insult my Obsidian Dreadox Race?"

Rean looked at Kentucky, this time speaking normally. "They truly hate your race, don’t they? Look at how much trouble you are giving me."

"It was you who said I should keep my original appearance to make things faster!" Kentucky complained.

"I don’t know what you are talking about..." Rean pretended to know nothing, though. Ignoring Kentucky’s anger, Rean turned back to Fruier. "Senior Fruier, it wasn’t my intention to offend you or your race. How about this? Give my friend here a good beating as an apology. I’m sure he will understand, and that should relieve you of your anger... at least a little."

"Your ass!" Kentucky shouted back, using his leg to kick Rean.

*Bang!*

Of course, Rean defended. "It’s for the sake of our search. What is just a few broken bones to you?"

"It hurts!"

"You know very well you can use my skill to numb your feeling of pain!"

"That’s not the point!"

"For fuck’s sake, just cooperate!"

Rean and Kentucky bickered one after the other. Finally, Fruier lost her patience. "Enough! Hell, Minokawas are all dumb as always, and their friends don’t look much better. Anyway, give me the fucking feather."

Rean nodded and let go of the feather, which Fruier used her Divine Energy to pull to her. She then took a small bottle with a red liquid from her Pocket Dimensional Realm, pouring a drop of it on the feather itself.

The feather immediately absorbed the red liquid, which confirmed what Fruier wanted to check. "Alright, this is indeed that fatso’s feather. Actually, you look quite a lot like him, including all the fat."

Kentucky almost exploded. "I’m not fat! I’m the slenderest Minokawa ever!"

Fruier nodded again. "Even the temper is similar. Alright, what do you want me to call Frife-Ni for?"

"That’s something only Frife-Ni would understand, senior," Rean explained. Still, before Fruier complained, Rean continued. "I’m not saying you won’t understand, just that it is a very personal thing. In no way am I trying to look down on your race."

"Hmph!" Fruier was indeed going to complain about that exactly. "So be it. It’s up to Frife-Ni to answer the call anyway."

This time, Fruier pulled a tablet which had many red runes. She put the feather on it, using her Divine Energy to activate.

*Bzzzz...*

The tablet seemed to come to life. The energy inside caught the feather, and an image began to form above it. It was a young man who seemed confused by that sudden call. "Hum? A Dreadox? I believe you were called Fruier, wasn’t it? I gave you a feather for emergencies only. Is your mountain range under attack?"

Fruier shook her head. "I didn’t use the feather you gave me, and I would rather spit on it than call you and your race here unless we were truly about to be wiped out. Anyway, the ones who gave me your feather were these two."

Only then did Frife-Ni turn around and see Kentucky. That was the first time the brothers saw each other.

"Hey! It’s a clone of you, Kentucky! Well, the younger you, that is." Rean couldn’t help but speak.

Kentucky wondered if there was really a reason for Rean to be there at all...
