Chapter 4543: Findings
Rean didn’t want to trigger any type of alarm on his way down, so he moved very slowly and cautiously. After all, he didn’t have Sister Orb’s array detection and hacking abilities anymore. Without her assistance, even a seemingly harmless step could potentially trigger some hidden array he wasn’t aware of.
Initially, Rean didn’t mind his slow pace if it meant he was keeping himself safe. There was no reason to rush when he had no idea what kind of dangers might be waiting for him below. However, the longer he kept going down, the further away he felt he was from the bottom. The ceiling above had already disappeared into the darkness, but the bottom still hadn’t revealed itself.
’I probably moved at least three or four kilometers down already,’ he thought to himself. ’I still haven’t seen a single array in this place, regardless of whether it was meant for protection, detection, or even killing. Could it be that this place has no arrays whatsoever?’
That possibility made Rean even more suspicious. A place like this, hidden beneath the Rosvelt Sect and apparently important enough to be kept secret, should have had some kind of defensive measure. Yet, despite carefully observing his surroundings throughout his descent, he hadn’t found anything remotely resembling an array.
At that moment, Roan’s voice echoed in his head. ’I arrived at the hideout.’
’Hum?’ Rean stopped for a moment, realizing that he had become so focused on his surroundings that he had lost track of time. ’How long have I been going down already?’
’Almost three hours,’ Roan answered. ’You are moving way too slowly. You should increase your pace before the other High-Elders or the Sect Master find out that a fake Falasliu entered the place.’
Rean pondered for a bit before nodding. Roan had a point. There was only so much time he could spend carefully examining every inch of the underground passage. If the Rosvelt Sect discovered that something was wrong before he reached the bottom, all his caution would have been for nothing.
’I’ll try to use the energy approach we’ve seen the cultivators in Woster using, then.’
As mentioned before, the Woster cultivators didn’t have Godly or Celestial Sense, so they had come up with a simple energy-spread method to compensate for that disadvantage. Of course, it was a lot worse. Even Zone Gods couldn’t spread it more than a few meters, but it was definitely better than nothing. With it, they could at least detect when something entered that limited range around them.
It wasn’t a perfect method by any means, especially for someone at Rean’s cultivation level. Still, given his current situation, even a small amount of additional warning could make the difference between avoiding danger and triggering something disastrous.
Rean spread his own Godly Energy, but he only did so for a single meter around himself. The energy that came from his body was truly being spent, so maintaining that single-meter range cost him some of his reserves. It wasn’t a significant amount at once, but it wouldn’t stop either.
Nonetheless, if there was some hidden rune within that range around him or something else that he couldn’t see, he would be able to react in time. With that small precaution in place, Rean began moving downward again, this time at almost three times the pace.

Back at the hideout...
When Roan came out of the airplane, he was already alone. He had Mario and Revana leave the airplane earlier at another location where they could hide for a while before Roan came here. There was no need for them to accompany him, especially since keeping everyone together would only make it harder to remain inconspicuous.
He quickly stored the airplane before entering the hideout.
Thery, Arcis, and the others were there as well. They had been waiting for Roan’s return, and judging by the expressions on their faces, they had clearly been growing increasingly concerned about the lack of communication.
Seeing Roan, Arcis couldn’t help but sigh in relief. "Good, you are here. I tried to contact you earlier, but it seems like you weren’t getting the messages either."
Roan narrowed his eyes as he looked at his RC. He quickly found out that Arcis and the others had indeed tried to call him over the past two hours or so. It was just that he had only received the notifications a few minutes ago instead of when they had actually tried to contact him.
"Our RCs can work with both a network and by being close enough to each other," Roan explained after checking the device.
Thery nodded. "Indeed. Since you only received the notifications a few minutes ago, that means the RC beacon Rean, Flugel, and Lukay left at the hotel has already been found and dealt with."
Roan’s expression remained calm, but he understood the implication immediately. "Seems to be the case."
Arcis, however, wasn’t nearly as calm. He had a worried expression on his face. "My daughter is in the Rosvelt Sect with Rean, Celis, and Kentucky. How are we going to contact them now? We would need to be close enough for our Ring Communicators to exchange messages between themselves without a network or beacon."
The worry in Arcis’s voice was obvious. The loss of their communication network meant that even knowing what was happening inside the Rosvelt Sect would become difficult, let alone contacting Kachia if something went wrong.
"There is no need to worry." Roan shook his head, completely unfazed by the situation. "Rean, Kentucky, Celis, and I have a kind of soul connection that we acquired back in our own Great Void. I can talk to them from basically anywhere, as long as they are alive, conscious, and in the same world."
"There is such a thing?" Everyone looked at Roan in surprise. Even those who already knew about the twins’ unusual abilities couldn’t help but find the explanation strange. A connection capable of allowing communication across practically any distance was certainly not something they encountered every day.
Roan didn’t talk much about it, though. There was no point in giving them details that could lead to questions he wasn’t willing to answer. "There is. Don’t ask me how to do it. It is only possible for those born in the Vinx Great Void. Anyway, all three of them are okay. Kentucky, Celis, and Kachia are waiting for Rean at the entrance of the underground facility Rean mentioned before."
Arcis was skeptical. Although Roan’s explanation sounded convincing enough, it was simply too convenient for Arcis to take his daughter’s safety on faith. "Don’t take it as me not believing you, but I need to confirm it."
Roan didn’t mind. In fact, he completely understood Arcis’s position. "I don’t blame you. It does look too convenient, after all. Anyway, ask me something that only your daughter would know about. Or I can simply ask her something to tell you that only you would know. Whichever makes you happier."
That’s exactly what Arcis wanted to do. His expression immediately relaxed slightly now that there was a way to confirm Roan’s claim. "Alright, ask her..."
—
Back at the Rosvelt Sect’s surface, Kentucky received the question from Arcis. "So that’s how it is, huh?"
Kachia looked at Kentucky with a puzzled expression. She had been waiting with him for Rean to return, so hearing him suddenly speak to someone who wasn’t physically there naturally caught her attention. "Who are you talking to?"
"Ahem..." Kentucky cleared his throat, briefly wondering how he should explain the situation without revealing anything he shouldn’t. "Well, you see..."
Kentucky then explained to Kachia exactly what had happened. He told her that Arcis wanted to confirm whether Roan could truly communicate with them through their soul connection and that he had therefore asked Roan to pass a question to her.
"You can do that?" Kachia was just as shocked as Arcis and the others had been. She looked at Kentucky with genuine disbelief. "This Vinx Great Void of yours is truly something else."
Kentucky scratched the back of his head. That was obviously a lie, but he couldn’t talk about it. "So... Arcis wants to confirm that Roan can truly contact me through our soul connection, so he told Roan to pass me a question to ask you."
Kentucky paused for a moment before delivering the question. "He basically asked why you lied when you ate his Frostwing Berry...?"
Kachia’s expression immediately turned dark. "Hmph! Tell the geezer the Frostwing Berry was mine! I earned it fair and square!"
Kentucky blinked.
Kachia’s sudden defensiveness made it painfully obvious that the Frostwing Berry wasn’t some insignificant fruit from her childhood. There was clearly some history between her and Arcis involving it.
Still, Kentucky wisely decided not to pry into a matter between a father and daughter. "If you say so..."
—
Once again, back at the hideout, Roan told Arcis what Kentucky had told him. "She said she earned it fair and square."
Arcis sighed in relief. There was no hesitation in his reaction this time. Whatever the circumstances surrounding that Frostwing Berry were, the response was clearly something only his daughter would have known. "Yeah... that’s my daughter alright."
Thery couldn’t help but find the entire exchange somewhat amusing, but he didn’t comment on it. Instead, he took the chance to ask something else, bringing the conversation back to the more important matters. "So, how is Rean doing?"
"He still hasn’t reached the bottom of that underground facility. I told him to increase his pace," Roan explained.
Roan then remembered something else. "By the way, you three checked the old records of your race in the Thousand-Script Sect, didn’t you? Did you find anything?"
Thery, Sison, and Haniala looked at each other before turning back to Roan. The three of them had clearly found something worth mentioning. "Well, there were some interesting things in their oldest records. Too bad we didn’t have the time to investigate further before you told us to get out of Dlaval City."
Roan didn’t mind. Whatever they had discovered could potentially provide them with useful information, especially considering how old the records were. He wanted to hear about what they had found. "So... what was it that you found?"
