Death… And Me

Chapter 4611: The Conditions

Chapter 4611: The Conditions

On the northern side of Besgol, or, to be more specific, at the Godly Crystal Farm outside the Sacred Relic’s Influence, everyone watched an enormous python with three horns and six eyes.

Just looking at the creature was enough to make most of the cultivators nearby feel apprehensive. Getting too close, however, made them feel as though they couldn’t even breathe properly. That was to be expected. This was a Godly Horror, and the Godly Pressure it emanated was far higher than what cultivators experienced while remaining within Besgol’s protected territories.

There was no need to worry about it attacking anyone, though. At the moment, the enormous python looked quite battered, and it was completely unconscious. Tobao and, especially, Zandal-Roi watched as the Array Masters worked together to construct a powerful sealing array around it.

These arrays weren’t anything new. Similar ones existed in the Godly Subjugation Guilds of various countries throughout Besgol. Godly Creatures, although only Godly Beasts and Godly Spawns, were kept there. They served as training tools and examples for new cultivators who hadn’t yet ventured beyond the Sacred Relic’s Influence, allowing them to gradually become accustomed to the existence of Godly Creatures.

Of course, the sealing array being constructed here was many times stronger. It had to be capable of suppressing a Godly Horror, after all. Several Godly Crystals continuously fed the array, and those crystals would have to be replaced several times every day. Once activated, the sealing array would make it impossible for the Godly Horror to muster even an iota of its Godly Energy.

Why was such a thing being done?

Obviously, it was part of Zandal’s plan: he wanted the cultivators of the Besgol Region to start building immunity to Godly Pressure. Unfortunately, there simply wasn’t enough Godly Pressure outside Besgol for that to happen naturally.

In the end, the only thing that seemed capable of providing a somewhat similar concentration of Godly Pressure as Woster’s environment was a Godly Horror. That was why Zandal and Tobao had worked together to capture one. It was especially beneficial that Zandal was completely immune to Godly Pressure, making the entire operation considerably easier than it otherwise would have been.

Tobao watched as the numerous runes of the sealing array activated one after another before glancing toward Zandal. The blob of liquid metal had truly gone through with his word. Tobao would be lying if he said he wasn’t concerned, though. After all, he had needed to leave the Sacred Relic’s Influence alongside Zandal. Outside of it, Tobao was obviously weakened by Godly Pressure while Zandal remained completely unaffected.

Besides, Zandal-Roi was already much stronger than Tobao even without considering the difference caused by Godly Pressure. If Zandal had decided to attack him out there, Tobao wasn’t confident he could have survived.

Fortunately, Zandal hadn’t tried anything. The two of them had successfully captured the Godly Horror and brought it back to the Farm. Tobao still didn’t completely trust Zandal, but this was definitely a good step in the right direction.

"Amitabha, amitabha..." Tobao put his palms together. "Friend Zandal truly contributed greatly this time around. I was also in awe of your power. This Godly Horror was simply no match for you. This monk feels that his presence out there was almost unnecessary."

The blob of liquid metal turned toward Tobao. "It is for my own good as well. This will serve as payment for my stay, allowing me to focus on cultivation and try to reach the Region God Realm. I don’t know whether this method will actually work for acquiring immunity. After all, that might have simply been a trait of my Woster."

He paused before continuing, "But even if it doesn’t work, you can simply take this guy’s Godly Crystal later."

Tobao understood what Zandal meant. If the experiment failed, the Godly Horror would still provide Besgol with an incredibly valuable resource.

Zandal could see that there was nothing else left for him to do. "Well, it seems like your people have everything in order. I’m going back to Besgol to prepare for cultivation. As per our agreement, don’t call me unless it’s an emergency. I don’t intend to stay here forever, after all."

Tobao didn’t mind. Just the Godly Crystal of the python would already make the trouble they had gone through worthwhile. "Very well. Friend Zandal can leave everything else to this monk."

Zandal agreed and finally turned around, leaving the Farm behind.

Tobao didn’t leave immediately, however. He remained there for a while, continuing to watch the unconscious Godly Horror. Even from his current location, he could feel the tremendous Godly Pressure radiating from the creature. He couldn’t help wondering whether this experiment would truly work.

Just then, his Ring Communicator received a call.

"Hum?"

Tobao connected to it through his mind, and his expression immediately darkened. "Sigh... so Natak did come after them in the end. I’d better go back."

Tobao stopped beside the Array Masters for a moment and spoke to Flugel, the Arrays Guild Master. "Flugel, I need to return to Besgol. Take care of things here."

Flugel nodded. "Leave it to me. I was in Woster too. If this works, I’ll be the first one to notice. Just go."

Tobao didn’t waste any more time and left the Farm behind.

—

Back in Besgol, Tobao arrived at the Godly Subjugation Guild of Jufafner Country just one day later. He met with the higher-ups of the Guild as well as the twins, and after checking the reports and the evidence they had gathered, everyone agreed that they should activate the Long-Distance Communication Arrays immediately and report what had happened to the other regions.

Since the activation would take place outside the agreed-upon communication times between the regions, everyone connected to the alliance would understand that the message was important. There was no reason to use such a large-scale communication method outside the established schedule otherwise.

Long-Distance Communication Arrays were soon activated across multiple regions, connecting everyone who was part of the alliance. Naturally, the Natak Region was also connected to the call.

Surprisingly, Krava and Tapoqi were already there.

From the looks of it, they had paid a considerable price to the regions they passed through so they could teleport directly as soon as they arrived. Thanks to that, they had avoided allowing those regions to discover what they had done before they returned to Natak. Now that they were already back, it was too late for anyone to try to capture or kill them.

It went without saying that the conversation wasn’t very pleasant.

Worst of all, with Doluno’s Command Token in Besgol’s possession, it was simply impossible for Natak to deny its involvement. Even if they wanted to, Doluno was already dead, something that couldn’t be hidden because his Soul Flame had been extinguished.

The truth was that Natak didn’t want to leave the alliance for obvious reasons. Remaining part of the alliance was far safer for them than isolating themselves from the other regions. Therefore, Natak offered numerous compensations and proposed several other agreements, hoping Besgol would let go of the matter and allow them to remain part of the alliance.

Tobao didn’t want to accept.

For him, the twins’ group was simply too important to the future of the Besgol Region. Even if the twins were to leave Besgol immediately, their contributions had already been enormous. Allowing Natak to escape without consequences felt completely unacceptable.

However, surprisingly, Roan himself intervened.

He told Tobao to accept the agreement and compensation.

The resources and other things being offered were already a tremendous blow to Natak, and that wasn’t even taking into consideration the loss of two Law Gods. From Roan’s perspective, there was little reason to keep pursuing the matter once they had obtained enough compensation.

Well... Roan mainly wanted part of the compensation because Celis had been nagging him nonstop that cultivation resources were worth more than any grudge.

Roan didn’t care much about grudges in the first place, so he simply acted on behalf of the twins’ group.

Albeit unwillingly, Tobao eventually accepted the terms, and so did the other regions that were part of the alliance. They also demanded a guarantee that Natak wouldn’t attempt something like this again.

That part, however, was mostly for show.

Could they really stop Natak if the region decided to try something similar again?

Not really.

In any case, everyone was more than happy to receive the compensation, especially since they weren’t losing anything in exchange, and the victim itself had decided to accept the settlement.

Let’s not get the wrong idea, though. If Besgol had insisted on having Natak removed from the alliance, the other members wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it. That was a rule everyone had established together countless years ago. It existed precisely to ensure that every region followed the rules and that no one could protect another region simply because of their personal interests.

Natak was truly fortunate that Roan had intervened and accepted the compensation together with Tobao.

Roan also asked for all the information Natak possessed regarding Lunelle and Luxa. This time, however, the Natak Region refused to provide anything.

Roan didn’t mind in the end.

There was another condition that was established during the negotiations. No one from the Natak Region would be allowed to teleport to the other regions for the next thousand years. All teleportation arrays connected to Natak would have their receiving coordinates removed.

In other words, one could still teleport to Natak, but no one could teleport back out of Natak through those arrays.

That ensured Natak wouldn’t have a convenient way of pursuing the twins’ group anytime soon. Of course, there was still one other option: they could cross the Godly Creatures’ Territories themselves.

Well...

That was practically suicide.

With that condition established, everything was finally settled, and the Long-Distance Communication Array was deactivated.

As for what would happen in the future because of this incident, no one knew.
