Chapter 3772: A Year’s Journey With He Jian

Chapter 3772: A Year’s Journey With He Jian

The villagers had mentioned it countless times.

Numerous wandering cultivators had apparently attempted to teach him and every effort had failed. Now He Jian wanted to see the situation for himself. The old immortal guided Little Bull through several basic cultivation methods.

Breathing exercises.

Qi sensing techniques.

Meditation methods.

Foundation practices used by children.

Every result proved identical.

Nothing happened.

Little Bull sat cross legged exactly as instructed, he followed every direction, and even his concentration remained surprisingly good. Yet no matter what He Jian tried, there was no response.

No qi gathering.

No circulation.

No resonance.

Nothing.

After several days of attempts, even the old immortal frowned.

The situation was genuinely strange.

Little Bull clearly possessed extraordinary talent. His vitality alone surpassed many immortals and his body contained tremendous strength. Yet traditional cultivation methods produced absolutely no results.

Eventually He Jian began considering another possibility.

Body cultivation.

The old immortal observed the young man’s physique once more. The more he examined it, the more convinced he became. This talent belonged on the path of body cultivation. The problem was that He Jian himself was not a body cultivator.

He possessed a few manuals and he understood the fundamentals. Yet that knowledge remained superficial compared to true experts.

Body cultivation was dangerous and even one mistake could cripple a person permanently. The old man had no intention of gambling with Little Bull’s future. Especially after discovering such a rare talent.

He wanted the young man to receive the best possible foundation.

That meant waiting.

The Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect possessed body cultivation experts.

It possessed inheritance halls.

It possessed specialized elders.

Most importantly, it possessed techniques vastly superior to anything He Jian carried personally. Thus the old immortal suppressed his impatience. He would wait until they reached the sect.

Until then, he continued teaching everything else.

Little Bull remained just as eager as before.

The young man listened attentively and asked countless questions. Occasionally confused simple concepts while somehow grasping difficult ones with ease. Every day He Jian’s opinion of him improved further.

The old immortal had originally believed he was merely escorting a talented youth back to the sect.

Now, however, he increasingly felt that fate had placed a true treasure in his hands. And somewhere beneath Little Bull’s innocent smile, Lin Mu quietly observed everything.

The infiltration had progressed more smoothly than he could have hoped.

More importantly, He Jian himself was beginning to trust him.

That trust would be far more valuable than any disguise technique once they finally reached the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect.

Eleven months passed far faster than Lin Mu had expected.

When he had first stepped onto He Jian’s flying gourd at Honey God Village, the journey ahead had seemed incredibly long. At the time, he had still been adjusting to his new identity as Little Bull, constantly worried that he might make a mistake or accidentally reveal something that would cause suspicion.

Yet as the months went by, the routine of traveling alongside the old elder became surprisingly comfortable.

Together they crossed vast stretches of the Immortal Realm. They passed through eight major teleportation routes, each carrying them farther toward the eastern reaches of the Immortal Court.

The first few jumps were relatively short, taking only several days at a time. Those worlds were connected through stable and frequently used teleportation channels, making travel fairly efficient. The later jumps were a different matter entirely.

The distance between major regions of the Immortal Realm was difficult for ordinary cultivators to comprehend. Entire worlds could spend thousands of years without ever receiving visitors from certain distant regions simply because the journey was too troublesome.

Even with the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect’s influence and He Jian’s authority, several of the later teleportation jumps lasted over a month.

Fortunately, those long journeys proved useful.

During that time, He Jian continued teaching Little Bull almost every day. The old man seemed determined to ensure that this future disciple would not embarrass himself upon entering the sect.

Lin Mu naturally already knew the vast majority of what was being taught.

Still, there were many details regarding the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect that were difficult to obtain through ordinary means. Those details were precisely what interested him the most.

By the time they finally reached their destination, Lin Mu felt that he understood the sect better than many disciples who had spent years there.

The final teleportation channel collapsed around them.

The familiar sensation of space folding and reforming vanished.

A moment later, an entirely new world appeared before them.

He Jian smiled faintly. "We’ve arrived."

Little Bull stared blankly. "Where?"

The old man laughed.

"The Heavenly Stream Guardian World."

Lin Mu made his eyes widen.

Internally, however, his focus sharpened immediately.

He had finally reached his destination.

The world containing the vault.

The world that contains the third ring.

The world that had occupied his thoughts for years.

The world itself was immense.

Even before arriving, He Jian had spent considerable time explaining its structure. Unlike most sects, the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect did not merely occupy a mountain range or a collection of territories.

It occupied an entire world.

The entire planet was effectively the sect itself.

Three enormous continents dominated the world, each one larger than many independent empires Lin Mu had visited before.

These continents were divided according to the hierarchy of the sect.

The first continent was known as the Outer Court Continent.

This was where the outer disciples lived and trained. It contained the largest population by far. Hundreds of cities, countless settlements, training grounds, academies, marketplaces and administrative centers spread across its lands.

The second continent was known as the Inner Court Continent. Only those who advanced beyond the outer court could enter there permanently. The quality of resources, cultivation grounds and inheritances improved dramatically within its borders.

The third and final continent was the Core Court Continent.

This was the true heart of the sect.

The Patriarch resided there.

The highest elders resided there.

Many of the sect’s greatest inheritances were located there.
