Chapter 3833: Special Storage Tool

Chapter 3833: Special Storage Tool

The pavilion disciple finally lowered the jade slip. His gaze swept across the four officials before stopping upon the disciple token they presented.

"Token." One of the administrative disciples immediately handed over Little Bull’s newly issued identification token.

The pavilion disciple placed it upon a small formation plate as several runes lit up. Information rapidly scrolled across another floating screen and he skimmed through it without much interest.

"Inner Court."

"Mhm."

"New registration."

"Mhm."

Without looking any further, he casually reached beneath the counter before producing an ordinary looking silver storage ring. He disconnected the disciple token and slid both items across the counter.

"There."

Little Bull immediately stepped forward. "So this is the storage..."

He picked up the tiny silver ring between two fingers, then stared at it. His brows slowly furrowed as he tried placing it upon his smallest finger. The ring barely reached the tip before refusing to go any farther.

Little Bull blinked. "...It’s tiny."

The pavilion disciple finally looked up properly. Only now did he actually see the mountain sized young man standing before his desk.

His eyes widened. "...Oh."

The four administrative disciples sighed together. "We need the Body Cultivator variant."

One rubbed his forehead. "He’s from Wild Peak."

The pavilion disciple froze, then looked again. This time he actually read the information floating above the formation plate.

"...Wild Peak..."

"...Little Bull..."

Recognition dawned across his face. "So you’re him."

Little Bull tilted his head. "Me?"

"The recruit. The one who made the assessment formation explode."

Little Bull scratched his head awkwardly. "It wasn’t on purpose."

The pavilion disciple quickly waved his hand. "I know."

He immediately returned the ordinary storage ring before crouching beneath the counter again. This time he searched much longer as boxes shifted and metal clinked. Several drawers opened and closed, before he produced something entirely different.

Instead of a ring, it was a simple bronze pendant suspended from a thick black cord. The pendant itself resembled an unpolished oval stone with several discreet formation runes carved along its edges.

The disciple placed it gently upon the counter. "This one."

Little Bull picked it up curiously. "It isn’t a ring."

"No. But it contains one hundred cubic meters of storage space."

Little Bull’s eyes widened. "That’s... big?"

"For a standard issue tool?" The administrative disciples laughed. "Very."

Little Bull continued examining the pendant. "I thought everyone got rings."

"Most disciples do." One administrative disciple folded his arms. "But body cultivators..."

He glanced toward Little Bull’s massive fists. "...have a tendency to destroy them."

Little Bull looked confused. "How?"

Another disciple answered. "Imagine punching a mountain."

Little Bull nodded. "I can imagine that."

"Now imagine doing that thousands of times."

Little Bull nodded again.

"The ring..."

"...eventually breaks."

The pavilion disciple added his own explanation.

"Even immortal tools possess limits. A storage ring worn on the fingers constantly experiences the impact of your punches. Eventually the internal formations fracture and then everything stored inside scatters."

Little Bull immediately looked alarmed. "My food too?"

"Everything."

Little Bull quickly nodded. "Pendant is better."

All five disciples smiled. The reasoning had apparently convinced him.

"This pendant hangs close to your chest." The pavilion disciple continued explaining. "It experiences almost no direct impact during combat. Wild Peak disciples generally use pendants, necklaces, waist ornaments like belts or back mounted storage tools."

"Very few continue using rings."

Little Bull immediately placed the cord over his neck and the plain pendant rested comfortably against his broad chest.

"It feels nice."

The pavilion disciple nodded before continuing. "Just like your disciple token this storage pendant has already been modified."

Little Bull looked down. "Modified?"

"You currently possess no immortal Qi. So this tool operates through stored energy. You activate it using voice commands."

Little Bull looked amazed again. "It listens too?"

"Yes." The disciple demonstrated several commands before having Little Bull repeat them. "Open Storage."

The pendant glowed softly as a small spatial opening appeared before Little Bull. His eyes nearly popped out.

"It opened!" He carefully peeked inside. "There isn’t anything."

The administrative disciples laughed. "Because it’s empty."

"Oh." Little Bull scratched his head sheepishly. "I thought maybe food came with it."

The pavilion disciple chuckled. "Unfortunately not."

"Still..." He then grew slightly more serious. "...you should begin cultivating as soon as possible."

Little Bull looked up. "But I still don’t have a cultivation manual."

The four administrative disciples exchanged resigned looks. "Of course..."

One sighed. "Wild Peak."

"High Elder Shatter Peak probably forgot." Another rubbed his forehead. "I’m certain he forgot."

"So..." Little Bull blinked. "...what do I practice?"

The four actually thought about the question for nearly a full minute.

Finally, the eldest among them spoke. "We can’t recommend your primary cultivation technique as that decision belongs to your peak. The elders there will choose whatever suits your physique."

Little Bull nodded. "Oh."

"But..." The disciple continued. "...you can certainly learn a basic body tempering technique."

"Those are public manuals and they’ll help you understand the fundamentals as they’re safe. They’ll also allow you to better control your vitality."

Another disciple added. "And once you’ve cultivated even the basics, using storage tools becomes much easier."

Little Bull listened attentively. "What should I read?"

The disciples began listing names.

"The Iron Skin Foundation Manual."

"The Stone Bone Tempering Art."

"The Hundred Breath Body Exercise."

"The Mortal Mountain Tempering Scripture."

"The Copper Blood Foundation Method."

"They’re all introductory techniques."

"They’re intended even for ordinary mortals."

"They won’t interfere with whatever primary cultivation method Wild Peak eventually gives you."

Little Bull repeated several names quietly so he would remember them.

"Iron Skin..."

"Stone Bone..."

"Hundred Breath..."

"Any one of those is fine." The disciples nodded approvingly. "You’ll find them in your peak library."

Little Bull looked puzzled again. "The library?"

"Your disciple token grants access. It will recognize your identity automatically."

The explanation relieved Lin Mu considerably. At least now he possessed a legitimate excuse to visit the Wild Peak library. That alone made today’s journey worthwhile. With everything finally completed, the administrative disciples bowed politely toward the pavilion disciple.

"Thank you."

The pavilion disciple waved them away. "No problem."

The group left the Tool Pavilion together.

"Now that everything’s finished..." Outside, one of the four disciples smiled. "...we’ll escort you back to Wild Peak."

Little Bull suddenly stopped walking. "Huh?"

The disciples looked back. "Aren’t we going?"

Little Bull scratched his head. "I was actually looking for High Elder Shatter Peak."

The four blinked. "You were?"

"That’s why I came out today. I wanted to find him." Little Bull nodded earnestly. "I still don’t know where he went."

The four administrative disciples looked at each other. Their expressions slowly became identical. Somehow, after spending nearly an entire morning fixing paperwork that should have been completed yesterday, they had completely forgotten to ask why Little Bull had left Wild Peak in the first place.
