Hundreds of divine senses swept across the vials flying in every direction, and the moment they penetrated the thin protective formations Liam had placed around them, the expressions of the watching cultivators changed. They all panted like dogs in heat rushing forward at full speed.
"SSS-ranked!"
"That's a Nine-Revolution Soul Lotus!"
"There's a Heavenly Marrow Fruit in that one!"
"Move!"
BOOOOOOM!
The battlefield exploded. Cultivators who had been retreating turned around so violently that several nearly collided with their own people. Spatial passages that had been seconds away from closing were abandoned, ancient warships changed direction, and dozens of figures shot toward the scattered vials.
The weaker cultivators weren't even given a chance. Dao Lords and Dao Generals were blasted aside by the pressure of Dao Masters. Dao Masters cursed as Grand Masters passed over them, while several of the Dao Kings who had been observing from a dignified distance suddenly seemed to forget every trace of their previous dignity.
An old man tore through three spatial barriers and grabbed one vial. "Hahaha! Mine!"
A golden hand immediately descended from above. "Old bastard, put it down!"
"Fuck off!"
BOOOOOOM!
The two collided.
Elsewhere, five cultivators reached another vial simultaneously. Nobody bothered negotiating. The sky descended into complete chaos.
Xerathuna's attack stopped halfway. She stared at the scene. Then at Liam. "You—"
Liam smiled. "Sorry. You were saying something?"
Xerathuna's face twisted. He had done that deliberately. "If you think that just this much is enough to escape your fate today, then you are sorely mistaken. You are to die here!"
"Honey, calm down. I will take care of him." The blood prince smiled charmingly. "This mortal here has truly tested you, so I will let you take your time with this kill."
The next second, five blood effigies towered Liam, completely surrounding him.
Each stood hundreds of meters tall, their bodies formed from condensed crimson blood that flowed continuously beneath translucent skin. They possessed no faces, only smooth heads and enormous humanoid bodies, yet the moment they appeared, the pressure around Liam multiplied several times over.
Multiple tendrils shot from the effigies towards Liam and, in the blink of an eye, bound him completely. The crimson tendrils wrapped around his arms, legs, waist, and neck. They tightened until his body was almost completely hidden, while the five enormous effigies stood around him like pillars supporting some grotesque crimson prison.
Another effigy engaged the Sword dao avatar, and two more kept Derek and the demonesses occupied. In just a second, it seemed as if Liam's entire effort went to shit. He was completely trapped.
"There you go. He is all yours now, my love." The blood prince smiled.
Xerathuna smiled coyly. "You spoil me too much, my love." She then slowly descended.
Golden divine energy curled around her body as she passed between the enormous blood effigies, and unlike the countless cultivators still tearing the battlefield apart for Liam's herbs, she had eyes for only one person.
Liam.
The crimson tendrils had wrapped around almost every part of him. His arms were pinned against his sides, his legs were bound together, and another thick strand had wound around his throat tightly enough that faint cracks already appeared beneath his skin.
His Sword Dao avatar couldn't reach him. Derek couldn't reach him. The two demonesses couldn't reach him. Even his other two ridiculous incarnations remained locked inside her Celestial Prison.
Finally, the rat had nowhere left to run.
Xerathuna stopped directly in front of him. "You know, I have imagined this moment several times."
BOOM!
Golden energy struck Liam's stomach. Blood sprayed from his mouth.
One of the demonesses exploded with demonic energy and tried to break past the blood effigy blocking her path, only for another crimson arm to sweep down and force her backward.
Derek roared and swung his axe.
BOOOOOOM!
The effigy facing him staggered several kilometers, half its torso splitting apart beneath the blow, but before Derek could pursue, the damaged sections liquefied and immediately began reconstructing.
The Sword avatar was having the same problem.
Every time its silver blade severed part of the effigy opposing it, the creature simply turned into blood and reformed. Worse, the blood wasn't merely regenerating; it was spreading around the avatar, continuously forcing it farther from Liam.
The Blood Prince watched everything with obvious satisfaction.
"There, sweetheart. Take your time."
Xerathuna's expression softened immediately as she glanced at him. Her head then snapped back to Liam, a cold sneer appearing on her face.
"You are done. You are trapped. You have nowhere to run and no one to help you. Oh, don't worry. I won't kill you just yet. You will stay with me for a long time as my personal puppet. Now let's get your soul baptised, shall we? From now on, I will be your God and your master."
She took another step forward when suddenly Liam looked up and smiled. "Are you sure?" He mumbled.
"Hmmm?"
"Are you sure that I am the one who is trapped?" A cold, murderous glint flashed in Liam's eyes as he completely revealed all of his killing intent.
A chill ran down Xerathuna's spine as she unwittingly took a step back. What was he saying? What did he mean? Wasn't he completely overpowered? What other secret card could he possibly have?
"Have you become delirious, you fool-" Before she completed her sentence, someone appeared behind her.
Xerathuna turned to see a familiar face. Her heart instantly dropped. For some reason, she had a bad feeling. She immediately teleported back to the Blood Prince for safety.
"He-" She opened her mouth when she noticed that even the man in front of her had frozen in shock. The Blood Prince seemed even paler than usual as he stared at something with utter disbelief on his face.
Xerathuna swallowed as she turned to see what was going on, and when her gaze finally landed on the scene awaiting her, her mind instantly exploded.
There was another Liam.
He stood exactly where Xerathuna had been only moments earlier, dressed in simple dark robes with his hands resting casually behind his back. There was no crimson tendril wrapped around him, no blood effigy restraining him, and no trace of injury on his body. His face was identical to Liam's, but what made Xerathuna's heart sink wasn't his appearance.
It was his cultivation. He was a Dao King.
Before she could process that fact, another figure appeared beside him. Then another. And another.
Each one had Liam's face.
Some wore white robes. Others wore black, crimson, gray, blue, or simple clothes without any distinctive markings at all. One carried a spear across his shoulder. Another held a massive black saber. One had his hands tucked into his sleeves like some wandering scholar, while another stood surrounded by faint arcs of lightning that distorted the surrounding space with every movement.
However, every single one released the aura of a Dao King.
And the insanity did not stop.
Dao King auras began appearing faster than anyone could count.
Twenty.
Thirty.
Fifty.
The heavens trembled.
The countless cultivators who had been fighting over Liam's SSS-ranked herbs froze where they stood. One elderly Dao King still had his hand wrapped around another man's throat, while the other had a sword pressed against his stomach, yet neither seemed capable of remembering why they had been fighting.
Both stared toward Liam, toward the many Liams all over the place. There were seventy, eighty, a hundred? No one dared to count anymore.
Each aura alone could dominate an ordinary world. Each represented a cultivator who had crossed a boundary countless geniuses spent hundreds of thousands of years trying and failing to reach.
Now they were appearing one after another, all with the same face, and all surrounding the battlefield. How could a single being even accomplish something like this? Was this a nightmare? How could this be possible?
She was the prodigal high priestess. She was the Goddess whom her entire faction worshiped. How could this rat possibly stand above her?
Xerathuna's mouth slowly opened. "No."
Another group appeared above the Celestial Court's golden fortresses. More appeared behind the Blood Court's warships.
"No... This isn't possible."
Xerathuna's thoughts became increasingly frantic as another dozen Liams appeared in the distance.
She had personally hunted him. She remembered exactly how weak he had been, how desperately he had fled from her, and how many ridiculous tricks he had needed simply to survive whenever she closed in on him. Back then, killing him would have required almost no effort and now...
How long had it been since then? A few years?
To her, that amount of time was nothing. She had once spent longer than that meditating upon a single flaw in one divine technique, while some of her breakthroughs had required thousands or even tens of thousands of years of accumulation.
And this bastard had somehow created hundreds of Dao Kings?
"No..."
Her divine sense swept across them again. She had to be mistaken.
There had to be an illusion somewhere, some formation manipulating her perception or some heavenly treasure temporarily projecting false cultivation. Perhaps only a handful were real, while the rest were empty shells designed to frighten them.
Her third eye opened fully. Golden divine light swept across the battlefield. However, no matter how many times she scanned, there was only one truth. They were real.
"Impossible..." She looked around in a daze at the utterly ridiculous scene unfolding in front of her. This man was a true monster. Liam was not the one who was trapped. They all were.
