Chapter 2094: Too Long

Chapter 2094: Too Long

The eyes of the general turned somber after hearing the report, he was about to continue speaking when he suddenly paused and raised his head to look in the direction of the eastern entrance to the City.

The young man noticed the general’s odd look and turned in that direction as well, but he did not see anything out of the ordinary.

The general smiled and said, "We have a visitor."

Grey’s figure appeared like a ghostly shadow in the main hall where the general and the young man were discussing. The young man did not sense Grey’s presence, but the general had his gaze locked onto his body.

"There’s no need to be so cautious, general, I’m an ally." Grey brought out the token handed to him by his father.

The general chuckled, "One can’t be too sure now can I?"

Studying Grey’s features since his face was hidden by the mask, the general put on a thoughtful expression.

"On my way here, I couldn’t help but notice your city is under attack." Grey pointed out.

"We were just discussing countermeasures, but since you were sent here by Lord Lucas, I must assume you are our backup, correct?" The general did not mind Grey pointing out the obvious and simply asked.

Grey nodded while he casually took a seat on one of the empty chairs. He used his fingers to stroke the smooth carvings on the armrest.

The general had an odd look in his eyes when he saw how Grey was acting in such a carefree manner in his presence. Most people would generally show respect to those stronger than them. With a smile on his face, he said, "Since they sent only you here, I’ll take it the commander deems you worthy. I, on the other hand, will have to test your strength first to see if we can fight alongside each other."

"I’ll leave the task of quelling the eastern entrance attack to you. You’re a Ninth stage Sovereign, and from what I can tell, they only sent out one Ninth stage Sovereign whose puppet is also in the Ninth stage."

Grey looked at the general from the side of his eyes, and stood up.

"I’ll help you deal with the attack. But the reason I was sent here is different, I’ll speak to you shortly."

Saying this, Grey vanished from where he was standing.

The young man was taken aback when he suddenly saw a masked man standing in the main hall. After hearing their conversation and seeing how the man suddenly disappeared, he knew the person was an expert.

"A Space Elementalist, no wonder he’s so proud. I wonder who he is..." The general muttered after Grey left.

....

The eastern entrance of the city.

Attacks were raining down on the walls and puppets could be seen sending out endless attacks.

On the city wall, troops of soldiers rallied together to set up a large defensive formation that blocked the attacks of the puppets.

An Eighth stage Sovereign who wore a silver uniform with black thread embroidery looked at the lady by his side who was also an Eighth stage Sovereign and asked in a panic "Why isn’t the general here yet?"

The lady was dressed in female military wear that was all blue, said with a shake of her head, "I don’t know, I sent Mark to report back to him earlier."

"Why did we have to fight under such a lazy general?" The silver man complained as he created a large snowflake that floated outside their protective shield and exploded.

A freezing cold spread out from where the snowflake exploded forward, sweeping the puppets attacking them in it.

A blazing flame rose from the depths of the cold, brushing aside the cold wind. The puppets were perfectly fine and continued their attacks.

The two Eighth stage Sovereigns knew the Ninth stage Sovereign on the enemy side was starting to lose patience and would most likely attack soon.

As they wondered why the general had not arrived, Grey suddenly appeared on the city wall beside them.

"How far is the Gnome camp from here?" Grey asked as soon as he appeared.

Seeing an unfamiliar figure appearing out of nowhere, the two Eighth stage Sovereigns entered a defensive stance, but soon saw Grey’s token and calmed down, understanding he was an ally.

The man thought for a few seconds before replying, "Around ten kilometers south from here."

Grey stroked his chin before nodding in understanding, he looked outside the city walls and his gaze landed on the body of a thin figure.

’A Necromancer.’

The Ninth stage Sovereign sent to attack this entrance was a Necromancer. Grey hated Necromancers even more than Gnomes purely due to them betraying their kind.

"We will step out to meet them in battle, I’ll deal with the Necromancer."

Saying this, Grey did not give them any time to respond as he stepped outside the protective formation.

His movement drew the attention of the human troops, as well as the Gnomes and Necromancers who were watching the battlefield.

On the Gnome’s side.

The Ninth stage Sovereign Necromancer stood with both hands behind his back as he watched the attacks. Seeing a figure stepping out, he could tell that was the person he was waiting for.

"He finally came out after so long." The Necromancer snickered and rose to the sky, flying over to meet the figure ahead of him.

He soon appeared before Grey, inspecting the latter. At this point, the puppets had stopped attacking as everyone watched the two figures face off.

"You’re not the general." The Necromancer commented when he had a proper look at Grey.

Grey shook his head, "Do you have a message for him?"

"I do, actually." The Necromancer stroked his long beard before saying, "Tell him you all have two days to surrender this spot and piss off, if not, we’ll come take it from your cold corpses."

"Two days? That’s too long don’t you think?" Grey suddenly asked a question that confused everyone present.
