Chapter 2847: Chapter 2847: Send Shino To Dian Chi Ne’s Side
However, his voice was far too loud for the quiet deck, instantly drawing the unwanted attention of everyone sitting nearby.
Several surrounding passengers turned around, shooting curious and annoyed glances toward their small group.
Seeing the unwanted stares, the leader immediately bowed his head slightly and offered a hasty apology on the man’s behalf for the noisy disruption. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, the surrounding tourists slowly lost interest, turning back to their own conversations and no longer paying any mind to the trio.
The moment the onlookers turned away, the leader reached over and sharply smacked the back of the man’s head.
"What on earth are you thinking, shouting like that?! Are you actively trying to draw everyone’s attention directly to us? You idiot." The leader hissed under his breath, glaring at him angrily.
"Sorry, Boss... I just got overly excited." The man muttered sheepishly, rubbing the sore spot on his head where his leader had just clobbered him.
The leader rolled his eyes in thorough annoyance at his subordinate’s sheer stupidity.
"Keep a lid on it and control yourself. We are here to quietly stalk and bag our prey, not to announce our entire operation to every single passenger riding on this ferry!" The leader scolded.
"Yes, Boss. I get it now. I understand." The two men answered.
The foolish subordinate quickly lowered his voice to an eager whisper.
The leader then cautiously darted his eyes back toward the two young women to gauge their reaction.
Fortunately, it seemed luck was on their side and nothing had been compromised.
The two naive girls did not appear to have noticed the noisy commotion at all. They were still happily chatting away between themselves, completely oblivious, as if nothing out of the ordinary had just occurred.
The leader quietly let out a soft sigh of relief, settling back into his seat.
"Good. Just keep your eyes glued on them for now. Don’t make a single move or do anything suspicious until we actually arrive at the island." The leader advised.
"Understood, Boss."The other two men nodded in disciplined agreement.
The leader maintained his watchful gaze on the two girls from a safe distance, carefully making sure that they did not lose track of their targets among the moving crowd on deck. As long as no unexpected variables threw off their plans, they would simply tail the two girls closely the moment the ferry docked at the Manhe Island pier.
The leader’s eyes narrowed into a scheming slit. He was already mentally calculating how ridiculously easy it would be to corner, isolate, and lure those two clueless girls away from the main tourist crowds the second they set foot on the island.
Yu Qi immediately sent a quick update to their group chat explaining the developing situation. She instructed everyone not to worry and to stick strictly to their original plan.
To give Dian Chi Ne an extra layer of security, Yu Qi messaged her back to let her know she would be dispatching one of her contracted beasts to keep watch over them. That way, even if the traffickers managed to snatch their phones later on, the girls would still have a direct line of communication with the rest of the group.
Yu Qi quietly summoned Shino and quickly briefed the small creature on his task.
Understanding his mission immediately, the tiny ferret nodded his small head and dashed off, darting through the crowded ferry deck toward Dian Chi Ne and Dian Wan Ye. Shino wove expertly through the maze of passengers’ legs and soon caught up to Dian Chi Ne. He scurried up her outfit and gently tugged at her hand to grab her attention.
Feeling a sudden, soft touch against her fingers, Dian Chi Ne looked down in surprise and spotted the adorable little ferret looking back up at her. Dian Wan Ye quickly noticed Shino as well.
"Chi Ne, this might be Yu Qi’s contracted beast." Dian Wan Ye whispered, leaning in close. "Ask him if he belongs to her."
"Are you Yu Qi’s contracted beast?" Dian Chi Ne asked softly.
Shino gave a prompt, affirmative nod of his small head.
"It really is her beast!" Dian Wan Ye cooed, her eyes lighting up. "Gosh, he is so cute! I wonder when I will finally get a contracted beast of my own."
"Stop daydreaming. We are in the middle of an active mission." Dian Chi Ne scolded playfully with a gentle shake of her head. She then turned her focus back to Shino. "You can hide in my coat pocket for now."
Dian Chi Ne patted her deep pocket to show him where to go.
Shino eagerly scrambled up her sleeve and slipped snugly into her pocket, just as she instructed.
Once the little ferret was safely tucked away out of sight, Dian Chi Ne adjusted her posture and continued walking naturally, looking as if nothing out of the ordinary had just occurred.
After a forty-five-minute journey across the open water, the ferry finally bumped against the jetty and docked at the main harbour of Manhe Island.
The passengers immediately began gathering their belongings and filing off the boat.
Yu Qi and her core group waited patiently near the back, letting the thickest part of the crowd disembark first. Exiting alongside everyone else in one massive clump might look coordinated and draw unnecessary eyes to their faction.
Meanwhile, the three men who had targeted Dian Chi Ne and Dian Wan Ye were also biding their time nearby.
Because their intended prey had not yet stepped off the ferry, they lingered patiently in the background. Naturally, they planned to trail close behind the moment the two young women made their move to leave.
