Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 1015: I'm Here

In the blink of an eye, the battle between the bone army and anchor point monsters in the Chaos Realm had been going on for two months.

The magic crystals stored over many years were beginning to run out. The few wizards had to further tighten their belts.

To conserve magic power, Brando had already personally led the Black Water Tribe’s enhanced mutants down into the rift to fight.

Fortunately, the anchor point monsters from the abyss weren’t particularly eager to take down the Chaos Realm either, especially since this place reduced their strength to the minimum as well.

Under these circumstances, Brando, with his abnormally powerful physical strength, could withstand the anchor points’ pollution and fight on the front lines.

But if the abyss’s anchor point monsters continued their persistent attacks, when the magic crystals were completely exhausted, Keli and the others probably couldn’t hold the great rift and would have to retreat to Black Water City for self-preservation.

However, this would mean losing the terrain advantage, and the bone army might suffer heavy losses. Their year of preparation for resistance would also be wasted.

Keli looked at the small pile of magic crystals left in the warehouse, so worried she was pulling at her hair.

Although they could now contact Saul, the sealed Chaos Realm space meant Saul could only worry helplessly from outside.

Fortunately, two days ago Saul had suddenly said there were clues about the Chaos Realm’s sealing, otherwise Keli would be planning a retreat right now.

Just as Keli was anxiously pacing back and forth, Shaya entered the warehouse with a serious expression.

“The number of anchor point monsters has increased. Brando is requesting backup.”

“How did they suddenly increase?” Keli’s current fear was exactly this kind of sudden change. “Did Ann go down?”

Shaya nodded. “But according to feedback from the front lines, the group Ann took down probably isn’t enough.”

Both Ann and Brando were actually close-combat type wizards. They relied on their modified bodies for attacks, and without using other magic, the number of enemies they could fight was limited.

“It looks like one of us two needs to go down.” Keli looked at the pile of magic crystals on the ground with some heartache.

Whether it was Keli’s radiation manipulation or Shaya’s Inverted Tree, both required large amounts of magic power and mental strength for support.

They could control many white monster armies when fighting, but this also meant they were magic power consumers. Only when there were too many enemies in the great rift and physical combat alone couldn’t hold them back would Keli or Shaya go into battle.

They would never both enter the great rift, both to prevent other monsters from sneak attacking from behind and to have someone in the rear who could calmly command a retreat when the front army couldn’t hold.

Shaya volunteered, “You’ve been going before, so let me go down this time.”

Keli was worried. “You should stay here. What if he contacts you?”

But Shaya also didn’t want to always let others fight while he did nothing in the safe rear.

Previously, he would only care about protecting himself and wouldn’t bother with others. But now he had come to regard Keli and the others as true comrades. Moreover, he hadn’t used the emotion-affecting elf candle for a long time, so his emotions were no longer so sensitive, and naturally he wouldn’t always hide in the rear like before.

“It’s fine. I can now handle his information properly. Fighting won’t affect my communication with Saul.” Shaya said confidently.

Seeing Shaya’s insistence, Keli didn’t stop him. She turned back to squat by the magic crystals, calculating in her mind how many to use.

Every time she and Shaya went into action, they would definitely consume large amounts of magic crystals, but when the battle situation was urgent, they couldn’t hesitate.

Just as Keli was painfully reaching for the magic crystals, a figure suddenly appeared in front of Shaya, causing the already nervous Shaya to cry out “Aow!”

“Saul?” Keli’s first reaction was to turn and be on guard. But when she saw who had appeared in front of Shaya, she excitedly jumped up.

She didn’t bother with the magic crystals anymore and hurried to Saul’s side, placing both hands on his shoulders to confirm his reality. “How did you get here?”

“I’ve been working for others during this time, and this counts as wages secretly earned.” Saul was also very happy to see Shaya and Keli.

During these two months, he and Frim had been following Douglas in transformation work on Sky City. Since entering the true wizard stage, Saul had rarely been ordered around like this.

But fortunately, besides helping others, he had also gained quite a lot himself.

Douglas, whether intentionally or not, would bring Saul and Frim along when teleporting in and out of the Mechanical Heart.

The teleportation methods of fifth-rank and fourth-rank wizards were completely different. After following Douglas in and out of the Mechanical Heart several times, Saul finally gained some understanding of spatial knowledge.

Combined with the enhancement of his fate lines, Saul had finally relocated Shaya’s coordinates today.

Although Saul was still far from the fifth-rank level of ignoring space, he could now lock onto Shaya’s position and directly extend a thread through his fate lines to enter the Chaos Realm.

It was just that Saul currently couldn’t completely split his consciousness, so when his fate line thread extending into the Chaos Realm became a new body, his body at Sky City disappeared.

However, Saul had already found an excuse to temporarily leave Sky City before coming.

Without explaining how he got here—since it wasn’t replicable anyway—Saul hurriedly asked about the current situation. “How are you all doing now?”

Keli was almost jumping up and down, pulling Saul outside. “The abyss launched another attack. This time the number of anchor point monsters surged. Brando and Ann below are about to reach their limit. Since you’re here, help us hold this wave first.” ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭•𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦•𝘯𝘦𝘵

Seeing Keli’s urgency, Saul temporarily set aside his questions. After confirming Ann’s location, he directly embraced Keli and disappeared from the base.

A massive body clad in iron armor crashed to the ground with a thunderous sound, but his head suddenly rose into the air and then landed on another nearby armored figure who was fighting skeletons.

“Whew—”

Brando took a long breath, gripped the giant axe in his hands tighter, turned and split, chopping down a gray-white skeleton.

But such damage couldn’t truly destroy the monster before him. Even shattered skeletons would reassemble into new monsters after a certain time.

However, Brando’s several iron-armored bodies still relied on heavy armor and weapons to temporarily contain the skeleton monsters’ attack.

But he also couldn’t persist on the front lines for too long.

In the Chaos Realm where magic power was extremely inactive, although the skeleton monsters’ pollution was also greatly weakened, prolonged close combat with the monsters would still cause Brando’s body to accumulate large amounts of pollution.

So whenever he fought for a certain time, Brando had to come down and use meditation to stabilize the pollution in his body, gradually eliminating it bit by bit. But if he couldn’t eliminate the pollution in time, or if there were too many enemies with no time to meditate, the terrible black tide pollution would cause irreversible effects on his body.

Currently, besides Saul, Brando didn’t know who could treat bodies severely polluted by the black tide.

So when he discovered that one of his bodies was seriously polluted, but Ann had reached her limit and was forced to retreat to the cliff wall to recover, and Brando couldn’t retreat at this time, he could only abandon that body and transfer to another body with less serious pollution.

But if no one came to replace him in time, this body and the bodies fighting elsewhere probably couldn’t hold out much longer.

Here, only their bone army didn’t need to worry about pollution problems.

Ann, hanging on the cliff with eight spider legs, saw Brando’s situation and hurriedly shouted, “Wizard Brando, come up and rest. I’ll go replace you!”

There had to be a wizard to control the bone army, otherwise the extremely lazy bone monsters couldn’t form effective combat power at all.

But Brando, seeing the twisted wounds on Ann’s body, knew she hadn’t eliminated the pollution on her body at all. Having her come down now, she probably wouldn’t last long.

So Brando shook his head repeatedly. “Recover yourself as quickly as possible. I think Keli and the others will know the situation here and will send someone down.”

Ann anxiously clenched her fists.

Thinking of the already precarious magic crystal reserves, she actually didn’t want Keli or Shaya to come down and fight.

But she and Brando were really reaching their limits.

“If only we could seal the passage the skeleton monsters are coming through.” Ann anxiously looked at the bone monsters on the ground that were besieging the gray-white skeletons.

The color difference between the two sides was very obvious to wizards.

“If the monsters from the other side keep appearing, we probably can’t hold out at all.”

Ann wasn’t afraid of dying in battle here, but she worried that if all of them died here, wouldn’t the bone army that Saul had carefully cultivated to fight the Abyssal Eye be completely lost?

Just as Ann was preparing to force herself back to the bottom of the great rift, a hand suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her back against the cliff wall.

“I’m here.” Saul’s voice was steady and powerful.
