There were a few changes, his evolution points had grown a little during the brief war and his bloodline had upgraded to the peak of legendary grade, alongside it, his maximum size.
He could feel his divine spark blazing, it fell only short of becoming an ember by very little now.
Then he summoned Avery to brief him on the state of the world. He still remembers the last message he received from Manas.
" My lord, welcome back." He nodded, " Tell me everything that happened in the world." She sighed.
" I believe it would be better if you see it yourself." He nodded and went outside. The moment he got out he took a sharp breath.
The air smelled terrible like he was in a field of decaying corpses. He looked around and what he saw shook him.
Bare, the entire minor world was bare with the only greenery around Evergreens mountain but even those were obviously unhealthy.
He spread out his soul sense through the entire minor and what he saw shook his heart.
His people were sick, they were coughing blood and their fur was falling off, only the strong ones were relatively fine.
However they all looked hungry and thirsty which made no sense. Beasts of that levels shouldn't be suffering from thirst.
" Herald of plagues." He whispered. " Yes my lord, we do not know what she's called but she's certainly above an envoy."
" Heralds, they're the equivalent of mythical grade beings in the universe." Manas said. He looked at Avery.
" Start from the beginning, tell me what happened." He told her with a grim face. " Yes my lord. It started in Russia, there's not much to say.
It started with the crickets, they spread consuming all plants in their path, then multiplied and continued.
People tried to stop them but failed." He frowned. " Are they strong?" She shook her heard.
" They have no combat ability at all, however they multiplied faster than we were able to kill them.
Not to mention they can consume essence energy so most abilities had their effects reduced against them.
After Russia they spread to all of Asia, scientists around the world tried to find a solution to no avail.
In only two months they had consumed almost 80 percent of all plants in Asia, at first nobody was worried but then things changed.
We found there was a particle in the air, invisible and very small. This particle induced what most had long abandoned.
The experiences of mortals, simple sickness like fever, hunger and thirst but people weren't just feeling these things.
They were experiencing them just as mortals did meaning there was a risk of dying to them.
The most terrifying thing about the particles is that they ignore ones rank, everybody is effected just as much.
Fortunately like all other sickness, a cure could be found. Our races banded together and eventually developed a cure.
It was hard at first, finding a cure was already hard, founding one that would be effective on all races was harder.
Evergreen was a member of that team." She gave him a red pill. " My lord, I'm sorry for doing this without your permission."
He raised his eye and looked at her. " What did you do?" He asked her, a bit curious what she did. She looked down with shame.
" The most important ingredient in the pill my lord was discovered to be your blood. Evergreen had once seen the effect of your blood.
The particle that had been named the dark particle has the effect of strengthening the bacteria and viruses in the air and blood.
To be more specific, it gives them the ability to ignore any physical enhancement that ever came as a result of cultivation, basically essence energy is not effective in any way.
It treat people of any rank like it would mortals who had never cultivated. Your blood does the same but in an opposite manner.
After studying the particle they figured it seems to have less effect on those with higher grade bloodlines as bloodlines, just like your blood.
This became a massive weakness for humans since they don't have bloodlines. My lord, the blood we had was not enough.
So I extracted some blood to create more pills, please punish me." He shook his head, " It's fine, you did good. So you used my blood to make pills that increases ones constitution in the same way bloodlines do?"
She shook her head. " Not exactly, strengthening the entire physical constitution would've been a waste.
The pill was designed to specifically target the immune system, by making it stronger, it had enough power to combat the bacteria.
The only part of the body that had to be strengthened or rather given the power to assimilate better were the eyes.
The earliest tests of the pill turned whoever ate it blind. When the immune system grew to absurd levels it easily broke the immunity privileged defences of the eye thus mistakenly taking it for a foreign object and attacking it."
He nodded, he wasn't too clear on the specifics but in some cases the immune system recognises the eye as a foreign object, he wasn't certain.
" Tell me about this woman." She sighed, " The details are unclear, apparently she's invisible and leave no traces.
She cannot be heard nor seen." He frowned. " Cannot be heard or seen? Then how do you know of her? "
" Because according to rumours, there are few instances where one person might see her briefly, like a fleeting shadow they say.
That person would survive what follows." His frown grew. " Be clear, what do you mean what follows?"
" My lord, whenever there are rumours of her passing by, death follows, death that nobody could explain.
The land itself dies, with the exception of those who saw her, nobody else has ever survived when she passed by.
It is said everybody feels a breeze through the air, then death follows for everybody. She had become a living legend in the world.
An object of fear more dreadful than the fabled beast of vengeance the humans say, they call her, the Pale Reaper ." She said that with a soft smile.
Ved grinned. " Pale Reaper is it?"
