"My precious and beautiful paradise shall soon be complete. Now that I have managed to get the key to the Groove's treasure, soon I shall have the real thing as well. That glorious weapon shall be mine."
The noble looked at Luna's sleeping face before he walked toward her. His greedy eyes looked her up and down before they stopped at her hands.
If one looked carefully, translucent white tattoos shined there, and they pulsed with energy.
The butler shuffled on his feet as he watched his master perv on a beautiful sleeping lady. But for the sake of his life and pay, he did not say anything.
However, he was still caught as his master just gave him a disappointed sigh.
"What's wrong, Butler? Ah, you must be thinking that I might have lost my mind, using my sacred treasure to kidnap a woman. And you would be right. Ever since I found out just how close that Groove's treasure was, I lost my mind and made it my mission to get it at all costs."
"I still recall heading to the claw machine, desperate to know more about the sacred treasure. Through it I got to know that the treasure is not an object, but a person born with the sacred blessing of the Tree of Knowledge. And now, we have their keeper. Soon, that treasure will walk in here and I shall control them."
Noble Freddy told his butler, and the butler could not help but sigh as he accepted his master's insanity.
He would have long left this job if the pay was not as good as it was.
"Oh–! I cannot wait–!"
Just as Freddy leaned closer to the sleeping female once more, the door was slammed open and a guard entered. He looked flushed, and his eyes widened as he looked at his master.
"M-Master, we have a problem. General Henry is here with the search warrant. And he's not alone. He has that famous 'shopkeeper' and an unknown person with him. What should we do?"
The guard asked, and Freddy felt his mood sour and fall.
The butler, who noticed this, flinched, but there was little he could do to help the situation out.
Freddy quickly walked out of the room he had kept Luna in before he locked the door and put the spell back on it. He was still using magic to control Luna, but he did not want to risk her being found by anyone else.
Once he had composed himself, he looked at the guard in front of him.
"Show me the way and have my 'guests' seated at the table. I will be there to greet them soon."
He told the guard before he headed to refresh himself.
General Henry was an annoying person to deal with. Especially since he was not even human.
That stupid mutt with an extremely sharp nose was too troublesome. If he was left alone, then Freddy had no doubt that he would find Luna.
So he was going to throw the General for a loop.
As for the other two…? Well, he doubted they mattered much. He had only one opponent to deal with.
"Go and light an incense for our guests. We need to treat our guests right. They should not feel like they are being neglected."
The butler quickly left, and Freddy let out a delighted laugh.
For a werewolf, their most sensitive sense was smell. They relied a lot on that. So by lighting the incense, Freddy would be taking it away, leaving the other side at a massive disadvantage.
He was so close to his goal of getting the ultimate weapon. He could not afford to give up now.
________
"Welcome to our mansion. Please, follow me to the guest area. My master will be here to greet you soon."
The butler welcomed us inside and we followed him. I kept my eyes on Leo to make sure he won't run off and do… whatever he wanted to do around this place.
"Ugh, this place smells. What the hell are they doing here?"
Henry complained as he walked behind us. His complexion looked a little pale and I felt worried for him.
It was clear that this place had a lot of secrets to hide. And they were desperate to hide them as well.
But there was no time for me to get distracted by Henry. Especially not when we were inside enemy territory.
"Leo, behave. I know you want to leave and find your sister, but just calm down for now."
I reminded Leo and he gritted his teeth. But he followed my lead and the butler showed us to the guest room.
The room was well-lit with a lot of air and nature showing. It almost looked like a movie set, and the butler quickly got us settled and brought us tea.
I took the tea and pretended to bring it up to my lips. But I never took a sip.
Both Henry and Leo did not even take their cups, their eyes looking at the butler, as if telling him to hurry up and summon his master.
The butler looked concerned and wiped his brow. He looked at the people in front of him and then at the upper levels of the mansion where his master was.
I was about to ask him a question, but before I could, a man dressed in the most extravagant clothes stepped out. He walked straight and with a grace I had hardly seen before.
"Welcome, dear guests, to my home. Please, be seated and tell me what I can help you with."
The man asked, and I felt both Henry and Leo tense up around me. They did not speak up, so it fell on me to make conversation here.
"We are here because someone told us that you smuggled illegal items in your home. I am sure that a sensible person such as you won't do that. However, we do need to follow protocol. So I hope you don't mind if we take a look around your home."
