When Everlearn stepped through the gates, he was surprised.
He had thought there were just three thugs, but he was wrong.
About twelve men were in the buildings, a few higher up, seen through the soft red glow of cigarettes in various corners.
"So, you want to go walk to them company rats and fight. huh? Where your gun at?"
The one who had allowed him in spoke to him as he was led to the center of the uncompleted building, where more of the thugs sat with bottles of alcohol in their hands.
"I ain't got one. But, I got this bad motherfucker, though," He said, bringing out a torchlight.
HAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHA
Laughter exploded through the building as they all mocked Everlearn, who lost it.
"Wait...wait... y'll...y'll laughing at my bad boy here?"
"Ya know what this fit do to them rats, ey?"
"What?"
One of them asked,
"Ey?"
"What you finna do to them?"
He asked, and in the next moment, Everlearn clicked the power button on the torchlight.
CRAAACCKKLLLLEE
A surge of electricity crackled loudly through the area, then silence fell.
"Y'll see now, ey?"
"Imma shock them out of our papa house with the motherfucker. You feel my shit now?"
He asked with a cocky grin, but their silence was only for a while before they once more exploded in laughter.
"Y'll still laughing at my bad boy, ey?" he asked.
But then,
CLLLLIINNG!
The tingling sound of a bullet dropping to the ground echoed out, as one of them rose, holding a powerful local gun with chains of bullets wound around his neck.
"Ya see this?" he said, facing the gun down and firing a couple of shots that Everlearn had to dodge in shock, avoiding having his toes blown off.
"Now this a real motherfucker right here."
"Yeeeeeh!"
The others hailed him as Everlearn looked at the weapon.
It indeed looked crazy.
The one holding it was a hefty-looking man with crimson red eyes, clearly under the influence of hard drugs.
"The last time I met all those company rats, ey?" he said, slamming his hands on Everlearn's shoulder before carrying his weapon, pointing at him.
"Me carry my gun up like a real bad man, and then, ratatatatatatatata."
"Their papa no fit wait. Them ran forget them shoes, like the cowards them be, ey!" he said to the others, who once more roared out in excitement until Everlearn asked,
"Where your boss at?"
The question made them all pause.
Their eyes immediately turned to look at him, and the one holding the gun asked,
"Why you want know?"
"Cuz me want good thing for myself. Me want a bad motherfucker like that one too from the boss, you feel me?" he asked, and the words dissipated the pressure, laughter once more exploding through.
"You want a bad motherfucker like this?"
He asked.
"Ya bet everyone gon want one."
Everlearn replied.
"Ya know, you right, little man," he said.
"Everyone gon want one, but not everyone gon get one, ya feel me?"
"Yeeeeeeh!"
The orders roared out from the side,
"So if you want one, you must earn one. You must go through fire, show that you a real badman!" he said.
Everlearn went quiet for a while, allowing the laughter to recede before his next words echoed out.
"Test me!" he said.
"Ey?" the man said.
"Test me. You gon see me a bad man, and me get that bad motherfucker soon. Me swear you."
He said, and the hefty man looked at him hard, with his red eyes, but Everlearn's face remained unshaken.
His steady stare and unwavering stance seemed to gain their approval, and the hefty man gave a wide, approving nod.
"Dolna!" he called out to one of the thugs, a really lanky dude with a band wrapped around his forehead.
"Take him to see…The Boss!" he said, as absolute quiet descended in the room.
Dolan signaled for him to follow, and as they walked, Everlearn noticed the lanky dude fiddling with his fingers, the hair on the back of his neck rising, a clear sign of fear.
"When he come back…" the hefty-looking man said, looking at Everlearn's disappearing back, and the rest turned to him.
"He gon be a corpse…or a reaaaallllll bad man."

It was a messy way up.
He and Dolna had to climb a line of stairs, encountering various thugs sitting in the windows, guns in their hands as they stared hard at them both.
The deeper they went up, the more crimson eyes of the thugs around, hugging rifles, with cigarette smoke filling up the air and broken bottles of alcohol.
They finally reached the highest part of the building, and Everlearn and Dolna had to follow a plank that moved from one building to the next.
Everlearn followed as they crossed rows of planks, eventually stepping into another unfinished building and making their way upward.
When they got to the stairs, an iron door marked the next passage, but Dolna remained behind, not following Everlearn.
"The Boss is in there. You go in. Me go back…" he said, and Everlearn raised an eyebrow as the lanky dude quickly scurried out of the place.
'He literally looks like a rat,'
Everlearn mused with a raised eyebrow, but then quickly shrugged it off as he moved to the iron door.
His hand lifted to knock, but he quickly remembered that would be dumb in such a setting, so he reached for the knob and pushed instead.
The door was flung open, and he stepped out.
The building towered impossibly into the sky, his hair flying wildly in the wind, but all of a sudden, a chilling sense of danger ran through him, freezing him to the bone.
His first instinct was to dash away from where he stood, but he paused, only for the corner of his eye to pick up the red laser light pointed right at his heart.
Slowly and deliberately, he turned to the source of the laser light, and what he saw made his jaw drop.
'That's insane.'
