I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 64: My Hand of Misfortune or Your Lady Luck?

Leo saw something in Victoria's history. Or rather, he saw what was missing in that history.

There was no information about Victoria's husband. Even the Galactic Union didn't have the information as they didn't try to go in depth.

They only knew the information that was known in the upper echelon of society, something that was kept hidden from the public.

There was no record of Victoria's husband. There were even doubts about Fiona being her daughter.

It was as if Fiona had simply appeared out of thin air. Even the Lionel Family tried to keep the information hidden for some reason.

The Galactic Union didn't bother to dig deep, since they didn't really care about the Lionel Family whose influence was limited to one star sector.

It was only the part about Victoria's personal life that had some missing parts. Besides that, everything else was fully detailed, including every single industry in which she had invested.

"She truly has her hand in every pie in this space sector. And every business that she invested in, had only flourished. People even call her the lucky maiden..."

"What a fearsome woman. I really should've approached at last, instead of trying my luck with Lionels at the beginning. Now all other options are closed. Unless I extend my influence beyond this space sector, it'll be hard."

Leo placed the device aside and grew more comfortable, with his legs resting on the armrest.

"Victoria... Did you really think you have me under your thumb since you blocked all my funding sources. If you want the Lionel Family to become an obstruction in my path, then I can't let that happen."

If it was just about letting her meet the shareholders, Leo was fine. But she needed a proper plan, and everything to be explained under a lie detection spell.

"Lady Luck, huh. Let's see what's stronger... Your luck in investment, or my hand of misfortune..."

"It looks like it's time to use the 1.5 Billion that Alpha Corp gained recently. Your three trillion worth of personal net worth, against the 1.5 Billion of Alpha Corp..."

Alpha Corp had recently haunted 1.5 billion credits after going public with just one percent share. The credits were sitting in Leo's system investment account.

Initially, he was planning to use them with the loan to go broke in one fell swoop. But now he had changed his mind.

He was going to do something more productive with them. Instead of making himself go broke, he was going to make Victoria go broke...

Throughout this time, his goal had been to earn wealth for himself. But when someone had blocked all the pathways for him to enact his plan, it had touched his reverse scale.

At this point, it didn't matter what a giant that Lionel Family was in this space sector, or how beautiful Victoria was. They really shouldn't have messed with him.

It was time for Alpha Corporation to come to the forefront and increase its portfolio. As for the companies Alpha Corp was going to invest in... He already had a very well curated list at hand.

He was going after the companies in which Victoria had invested her personal funds in. It was much easier than creating their alternatives to bring them down after all.

[Innate Ability: Hand of Misfortune]

[Ability Type: Passive Ability]

[Description: Any business or person you invest in, will receive a random level of misfortune]

This was also a perfect opportunity to test his skill on the giants of the space sector. And if that didn't work, then he could only get a little heavy handed.

Within that one day, Leo invested close to five hundred million credits in over a thousand companies, giving more to the larger companies.

The share of his investment also depended on the share that Victoria had invested in. If she invested two percent of her net worth in some company, he did the same with his hundred million.

The only difference was in the value. Her two percent were much more than the two percent of his investment funds.

Even if he could only buy one share, he did that, as it counted as investment in the company. And with that began the testing phase of his skill.

He invested in every company, without doing any research. All he wanted was to test his skill, and make Victoria suffer a few losses.

One such company, in which he invested without much research, was a commercial ship manufacturing giant named, "Triton Industries."

After investing everything, he was left with one billion credits in his investment funds, which he didn't do anything with.

Since he couldn't invest more than what his company had earned through the shares this month, investing a billion this month was foolish. If it wasn't to face Victoria, he wouldn't have wasted the five hundred million either.

For this one month, he had basically completed his investment target, already expecting to hear a disgusting word called profit at the end of the month evaluation.

After spreading his misfortune to Victoria's companies, he was comfortably on route to earth again, planning to simply chill for the rest of the month.

At least that would've been the ideal scenario. Unfortunately, when he was teleported back to the coordinates of his villa, he found quite a different scenary

"Huh? Was there some malfunction in the coordinates? Where in the hell did it send me?"

Leo was jumping on the ground which was scorching hot, trying to get out of the large crater which looked like it was on the moon.

After running on the hot surface for close to ten minutes, he finally managed to crawl out.

His hands were covered in dirt, and also a little burnt. But the pain felt like it just disappeared in the background, especially as he saw the sight visible from outside the crater.

....

At the same time, in another corner of the space sector, there was a large manufacturing unit that was established on a lone planet.

It was a company that manufactured space ships. In fact, it even had a large share in commercial ships that were sold in the space sector.

It was one of the largest companies in that field.

A woman followed behind Glitzy Delivery Service's owner. She asked with hesitation, as she looked at the planet that was growing more distant.

"Sir, they won't scam us, right? The last time we lost all the investment. This time, we won't lose it, right?" she asked, looking out for the rattling ship. "We paid everything in advance after all."

"Hmph, you shouldn't compare those scammers to Triton Industries! These people are the leaders in the field. Even bigger conglomerates have a contract with them. They won't scam us out of a few ships."

Glitzy's Owner said confidently. "This time, nothing will go wrong."

He had barely finished speaking when a loud burst of flames appeared in the back. The entire planet exploded, and the shockwaves in the page were so strong that it even sent Glitzy's rattling ship off course.

The rubble of the planet, mixed with the ruins of the ship parts flew out in space like they were launched out of a cannon.

Glitzy's Owner looked at the screen, which was showing the scenes in the back. His throat went dry at that moment, as he almost fainted.

The woman was also pale faced, as she tried to control the ship to avoid the projectiles flying towards them.
