I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 67: Resurgence of the Envoy!

Leo was sitting in the Necropolis Ship, his expressions growing worse with each passing second. He had already tried contacting Timmy, but he didn't get any response.

He even sent a message to Marque to see if he had heard anything from Timmy.

Unfortunately, Marque was also in a mess of his own, looking back at the projectiles of a destroyed planet. He didn't even see Leo's message.

"News! There must be something about it on the news!"

He opened the galactic net and searched for the name of the town where he had left Timmy and Kaelus.

"There's not a single word?"

To his surprise, even online, there was nothing about that town.Instead, there was a different news trend in the side section which caught his attention.

[Breaking: Lightning is admitted to the Emergency Ward! His life and death are unknown!]

[Exclusive: Footage of a bloody Lancer bringing Lightning to the Hero Recovery Center! What happened to the heroes?"

[Breaking: Blaze refuses to explain. Was there another fight between the Heroes of the Tower? Is the Hero Unity falling apart?]

[Exclusive: Our source confirms that Lightning's life isn't in danger. However, it would take a long time for him to recover completely!]

"What the heck?" Leo was at a loss of words as he went through the various news threads.

The only person on earth who could bring the heroes to this state was an otherworlder that was hiding on earth.

A bad feeling had started to settle down in his heart. Kaelus was missing, and the heroes were injured?

The destruction of his neighborhood, and the absence of any news about that battlefield-like place, only pointed towards one direction.

"The Heroes fought Kaelus, and got decimated. That would explain everything. It would mean that the Heroes are the only ones that might know about the whereabouts of Kaelus..."

Leo stood up from his seat, tossing the device back to the chair.

"Should I go and ask him?" He wanted to rush there to question them, but he was also worried.

Why would the Heroes come to his neighbourhood in the first place? It definitely wasn't for Kaelus, because if they knew his true identity, they would never have attacked him.

Although he didn't want to believe it, it looked like they came for him. Did they want more elixirs? Or did they have any other motive?

Whatever the case, it didn't feel like a good decision to show his face right now.

"I'm already associated with Kaelus in their eyes, the person that destroyed them so thoroughly. And after how we parted last time, I don't feel right to go back to them without knowing the full picture. It might even lead to more misunderstandings."

Leo's pace became faster as he walked back and forth.

Thud~

"Urgh!" His walk came to an abrupt stop as his knees hit the back of the chair, making him stumble forward.

"This freaking Necr..." He cursed out loud looking back at the seat. However, his eyes soon lit up as he saw something on the chair. It was the mask he received from Necropolis!

"Right! Why didn't I think of this before? Leo doesn't have to meet them in the first place! And if anything goes wrong, I have this ship as my backup!"

He limped towards the seat, and picked up the mask...

Within ten minutes, he was ready. With a snap of his figures, he commanded the ship to send him to his chosen destination on earth. And this time, he wasn't going to an unknown corner like before.

He was going to the Hero Recovery Center in the City of Estefan, a place created right next to the Hero Tower.

The Hero Recovery Center was surrounded by media that were waiting for a single glimpse of the heroes to get any news bite possible. Their eyes didn't leave the entrance for even a second.

It was only when a figure materialised between them and the entrance, that they woke up from their daze.

"Wait, who is that?"

"Is he also a hero?"

"Strange. Why don't I remember any Hero that dressed like that? He looks more like a villain to me?"

"Let me check..."

Reporters started looking at the Hero Database to find any Hero that looked like the person who had just materialised. Yet, they couldn't find anyone that matched this description.

Amidst the shocked gaze of the reporters, Leo approached the entrance.

The entrance was being protected by the Guards of Hero Guild, which were fully covered by the high tech armor.

"Wait right there! Identify yourself!" The armored guards reacted, aiming their laser cannons.

Leo raised his hand, that was slowly moving toward the hilt of his sword on his back.

He was making an entrance as the Envoy of Necropolis. He had to make a show, so that the Hero Tower took him seriously.

"He's going for his weapon!" The Guards reacted fast. One of them lowered his laser cannon and fired at Leo's knees. Meanwhile, the other fired at his shoulders to immobilize him without killing him.

It was Leo's first time being at the receiving end of these laser weapons.

The laser was so fast that even he was surprised. If it was his ordinary self, he wouldn't even be able to react, let alone dodge. He would have been taken out like a speck of dust.

Unfortunately for the Hero Tower, Leo wasn't the same person whose life and death could be decided in a secret meeting of the Hero Tower like before.

As soon as the attack came close to him, a dark barrier materialized around him, originating from the Mark of Necropolis on the back of his gloves.

The attack simply disappeared in the shroud of darkness like it never existed.

"He's a SUPER! Quick, alert-"

The armored guards reached out towards the panic buttons placed on their armor for situations like this.

Meanwhile, Leo's hand had reached the hilt of his sword, which he brought forth.
