The main hall looked like a grand ballroom with multiple tables arranged for the guests.
At one end, the entrance gate had been left open for now. On the other side, a stage was arranged for the demonstration.
Almost all the tables were occupied. Almost everyone who had received an invitation was attending the event, something that even Picollo hadn't expected.
He had simply sent an invitation without mentioning what Alpha Corp was actually going to reveal, yet so many people had shown up.
At one table, the representatives of the Hero Tower were sitting, led by Blaze himself.
Another table was taken by the owners of giant media organizations, some of whom had a reach across multiple planets in Space Sector 27, where Earth belonged.
Even Glitzy's Owner had arrived in person.
Quite a few tables were occupied by the representatives of giant multiplanetary companies, many of whom had become a part of Alpha Corp's supply chain.
Almost all these owners had suffered because of Leo, yet they were here as guests. If they knew the truth, it was unclear how many tables they might have broken.
What surprised Picollo the most was the arrival of families that were more influential than anyone else in the space sector.
The Lionel Family, which ruled the financial industry, was present. Even the Herriet Bank, the second largest player in the finance industry of Sector 27, had sent representatives.
Quite a few of the bank representatives were here to see the true extent of Alpha Corp's future potential, to see if it was worth it to go against the Lionel Family and actually approve Leo's loan application.
In the financial industry, it was all about profit. If the profit was enough, even the risk of offending the Lionel Family was worth it.
Until now, Alpha Corp was only seen as a major emerging player on Earth. But if they could truly bring a big disruption to the market, then it could be worth investing in.
"I'm getting cold feet! Can you go in my place?"
Picollo was backstage, his feet trembling as he looked at the guests that had gathered.
"Don't worry. You will do great! Don't forget that the boss granted you this opportunity because he trusted you. He wanted you to have this glory."
Yelina pushed Picollo lightly and continued, "He trusts you so much that he didn't even find it necessary to come personally. So just have faith in yourself."
"What if I make a mistake?" Picollo asked, wiping sweat from his forehead.
Just a few months ago, he was on his knees before mediocre people in the Hero Tower. And now, he was going to give this presentation before the highest authority of the Hero Tower and people that were even more influential.
"If you make a mistake, so be it! Once they see the results of our hard work, who will remember a few mistakes? Now go!"
Yelina pushed even harder, making Picollo get on the steps.
In the background, the researchers clapped loudly. Their applause also alerted the other guests, a few of whom started clapping as the event was finally beginning.
"Greetings, respectable guests. Alpha Corp is extremely grateful for your presence." Picollo looked completely different from the nervous wreck now that he was on the stage.
"Since your time is important, I will not waste anymore time. I will let our product do all the talking!" Picollo smiled and looked back.
"Introducing the product that will change history from this point onwards! The product that will not only save lives but also become the next sensation across the galaxy!"
His voice grew loud enough to be heard by everyone, even without the mic.
Meanwhile, outside the hall, Leo was standing with his back resting against a wall. He couldn't see what was happening on the stage, but he could hear everything.
He only occasionally moved to glance inside, ensuring that he wasn't seen by the guests.
"I'm feeling second hand embarrassment." Leo's ears were turning red hearing Picollo hype up something like invisible pants as if it was truly a world changing innovation.
"I'm sure when he actually reveals the thing, the guests will start throwing whatever they can find at the stage. Don't worry Picollo. Your sacrifice won't be forgotten! I will immediately double your salary!"
"Introducing... Invisible Pants, and everything beyond!" Picollo's voice came again, filled with passion.
Leo placed his hand on his chest, waiting to hear loud, angry voices coming from within the hall.
"Hmm? Why is it so silent? Did everyone die from anger?" His lips started twitching as the silence stood out.
Curious, he peeked out again, looking at the stage to see what was going on.
On the stage, there was no one. The stage was completely empty, yet no guest was complaining.
"Did Picollo run away?" Leo wondered.
The silence was finally broken as a woman said, "Amazing..."
A single word that wasn't even spoken loudly. Yet, in the pin-drop silent atmosphere, it felt extremely loud.
"I'm sure now you understand what this product does?" Picollo's voice came again from the direction of the stage, but Leo still couldn't see anything.
Something was wrong! No, something was extremely wrong! That uneasy feeling was starting to become stronger as his heart started to settle down.
"Picollo... What did you do...?" Leo mumbled weakly.
Picollo's face finally appeared as he took off his mask. However, the rest of his body was still invisible, making it look like his head was floating.
"Alpha Corp's Invisible Catalogue is a one of a kind invention that can make even an ordinary person attain invisibility!" Picollo exclaimed, greeted by loud applause.
Even Fiona had raised a brow at this demonstration.
"To create this, we had to reinvent how fabrics are made! We made our own proprietary threads that don't just make you go invisible, but also hide your body heat and energy signatures!"
"Now, to display a few more features of these clothes... I would invite a friend onto the stage..."
The floating head looked towards Yelina, who walked over carrying a laser weapon that was mostly used by the Hero Tower.
It wasn't just used by the Tower but also exported by them to other planets. Across this space sector, this was a weapon that was most widely used by those who guarded extremely important personnel.
Yelina revealed the weapon to everyone and set the intensity to the strongest level.
To show everyone that it wasn't fake, she aimed at the other end of the hall.
As she pulled the trigger, a laser was fired which flew above the guests' heads, some of whom ducked down.
The wide laser beam struck the wall, leaving a meter-wide hole. It didn't stop, as the laser passed through multiple reinforced walls before finally disappearing into the distance.
On the other side of the wall, Leo was drenched in cold sweat as he looked at the hole in the wall next to him. Just a few inches to the left, and it would've left a hole in his chest.
"Are you trying to kill me?!" Leo felt like crying, but it wasn't entirely because of the attack. It was because he could see his world falling apart due to the revelation on stage.
"Wasn't this supposed to be an invisible pant that at best could be used by exhibitionists until it was banned? Then how... how the heck did it turn into an invisibility cloak from some sci-fi movie?!"
His bad feelings were only growing stronger.
"As you can see, this is the strongest setting of this weapon," Picollo exclaimed. "To survive an attack from this weapon, it's only possible if you have a suitable superpower, dodge on time, or if you're wearing armor made from the rarest of materials."
"We all know that the latter is costly, even for the most influential amongst us."
"To buy an entire planet is cheaper than buying that material in sufficient quantity for an armor like that. It's also extremely heavy, so it is not widely used unless it's a planetary battle."
"Now let's see how this simple invention of ours does against an attack of this intensity."
Picollo faced the Yelina. He didn't wear the mask, letting everyone be sure that he wasn't moving from his place.
"On the count of three, fire at my chest!" Picollo said, taking a deep breath.
Although they had tested this in the lab a few times, it was the first time he was testing it on himself. Even now, his heart was beating fast.
"One!" he said, before taking a pause.
He opened his mouth to say two, but Yelina had already pulled the trigger, making his eyes go wide.
The laser struck his chest, and for a moment, that invisibility feature went down, revealing his complete figure as he was sent flying back due to the impact.
His body slammed against a wall in the back.
Leo almost choked on his own saliva at the sight. "Is this a demonstration of clothes or an attempted murder spree?"
