Darkness was quickly approaching as the sun had mostly dipped below the horizon. On the wide deck of the Great Horned Shark Pirate Ship, bodies, either decapitated or pierced through the heart, lay sprawled haphazardly. Wang Zhifan stood among these gradually cooling corpses, holding a blood-dripping cutlass, his gaze calmly fixed on the four figures standing on the other side of the deck.
Perhaps intimidated by the terrifying aura of the young man before them, the four robust figures who had just arrived on deck did not dare to attack him impulsively. Their eyes were locked onto him, and even the dapper young man in a tuxedo who initially played a black flute with both hands quickly ceased his performance upon realizing that his sonic attacks were ineffective against the cutlass-wielding youth standing ahead.
After a second or two of silent standoff, the man at the back of the group, looking like a captain, was the first to speak:
"Who are you, and why do you oppose our Great Horned Shark Pirate Group?"
Though he did not speak loudly, his voice was steady and powerful, carrying the composure and calm of an authoritative figure.
"If I said I'm just an ordinary passenger on a cruise ship, would you believe me?"
Wang Zhifan replied without much pause, his tone indifferent and calm, in stark contrast to his current murderous stance amidst the pile of corpses.
"Haha... So that's how it is. It seems the Misfortune Goddess favored our Great Horned Shark Pirate Group today..."
The pirate captain smiled faintly, seemingly attempting to smooth over the situation, but suddenly his gaze turned cold. His eagle-like sharp eyes stared indifferently at Wang Zhifan ahead, carrying a hint of arrogance and disdain as he continued:
"Yellow-skinned kid, don't think a little strength allows you to rampage on this vast ocean. The depths and expanse of the sea far exceed your imagination! Kill him for me! I'll cut him into a thousand pieces to feed the sharks!"
With the captain's sudden command, the three standing before him moved instantly!
Firstly, the towering giant well over two meters tall clad in full body armor erupted with speed utterly mismatched to his hulking form, charging towards Wang Zhifan like a heavy tank with rocket engines, raising a massive iron shield in a blink, clearly intending to knock Wang Zhifan aside with sheer force.
Even faster was the diminutive old man, the One-Eyed Dragon, wielding curved twin blades. This seemingly frail old guy appeared to have mastered an incredibly agile body technique, his movements completely eluding the eyes of an average person. His silhouette flickered, next appearing at Wang Zhifan's side and rear, with the twin blade tips darting like lightning towards Wang Zhifan's neck and heart.
Only the tall, thin, handsome young man in the tuxedo remained standing in place, but the black flute in his hand had at some point shifted into a black flute-sword. Meanwhile, his lips began chanting rapidly, as if invoking a spell that resonated with the flute-sword, causing it to tremble and levitate into the air.
The pirate captain who first issued the command had already stepped forward, drawing an exquisite longsword from his waist, poised to join in his three subordinates' assault.
Amidst the core of the explosive onslaught, Wang Zhifan maintained his composure, though his movements seemed slightly sluggish. As he sidestepped to evade the ironclad giant charging at him, he failed to fully avoid the attack, with the opponent's shield grazing his shoulder and the rapid One-Eyed Dragon's curved blades entangling him, landing strikes on his body.
"Watch your back!"
What appeared to be a moment of defeat for Wang Zhifan prompted a prompt cry from a certain captain behind him, all because he witnessed the young man encircled by his two proficient fighters inexplicably split into two. The first still stood in place, under fierce assault from the giant and old man, whereas the second suddenly appeared behind the giant, with his black-handled cutlass poised to strike at the junction of the giant's helmet and breastplate.
Swish!
The dapper young man in the tux was the first to respond from a slight distance from the battle's center. His calm gaze locked onto Wang Zhifan, who had just appeared behind the giant, while the flute-sword floating beside him suddenly split in two. The flute part began vibrating violently, creating visible ripples in the air, while the sharp sword part vanished, propelled by powerful sound waves, shooting towards the shadow behind the giant's back.
At the same time, the alerted giant didn't merely sit and wait for death. Realizing that his shield had bizarrely passed through part of the enemy's body without any tactile feedback, he instinctively crouched and rolled to the side, executing an agile maneuver unbefitting a giant over two meters tall.
The terrifyingly swift old man with curved blades reacted even quicker than the giant. Upon discovering that his twin blades had pierced only some kind of phantom, he took a half-step back with a motion akin to teleportation, his aged yet sharp remaining eye glancing towards the emerging figure behind the giant before swiftly shifting to the battle's further perimeter. His figure once again disappeared with impossible speed, just as when he had first appeared.
